Serena kept her eyes on the ground as they walked, not just to look for shells, but also to keep from looking back at the rest of the group, to see if they were making fun of her or not. She hesitated at his question, deliberating on how to answer it.

"...Umm...I live...in Savannah..." she answered, pausing to stoop down to pick up a shell. She examined it carefully before deciding to keep it, holding it to look over it rather than putting it in her pocket. She would, eventually, put it away, but only when she found another one she wanted to look over. She hesitated before glancing at him, then back to the ground.
