Serena looked up to see him tossing a shell into the water. She watched it until she couldn't see it anymore, then looked back to her own shell. She put it into her pocket to pick up a different one. She examined it closely.
"...Sounds...aggravating. I'm used to moving...Dad moves a lot...for work...it's not fun...but it's just what happens..." That meant few, if any, friends, and certainly no long-lasting relationships. That made it very hard to open up and talk to people in the first place, especially when she had such a hard time making friends already!
"...But...he said we won't...move anymore...retiring, I think...maybe quitting...or promotion...or something..."
