Shaking with excitement, Summer leapt out of his window, the birds chattering as they flew away again and followed him in the air. His laughter permeated throughout the whole alleyway in which Summer and Mayâs house was hidden in, currently covered with vines and flowers of the like. Pausing suddenly, Summer jogged his way back home and kicked the front door open- it was virtually almost always open until May noticed- and grabbed a piece of paper and pen, scrawling with his messy handwriting: Must be off to festival, will see you soon. Summer cast a look down at the note and nodded with satisfaction, peeping up at the closed door of his sisterâs room, feeling waves of cold air from it. He didnât want to wake up his sister- she needed her rest anyways.
Bounding out once more, Summer looked around as he rushed onto the main road and calmed down. Though his smile was still planted in place, he couldnât help but feel a surge of dampening as he walked onto the street filled with people. Probably because he had spent so much time with May, he couldnât help but feel a bit unsure around other people. His usual straightforward speech also transformed into something more so like his sisterâs whenever he spoke in front of anyone besides May, and he really couldnât do much about it. Some may call it PTSD, but the memories of the carnage of their last abode really didnât haunt him much. Shaking his head, Summer sighed and grinned at the birds that had perched once more on his shoulders. âShall we, then?â
Summer had gone almost everywhere; the fun and excitement had pulled him from one place to another. He constantly manipulated the emotions of those around him, making sure that they felt the sense of ecstatic happiness that coursed through his own veins. Summer couldnât stop himself from laughing, as he flitted through the crowds, his physical presence unnoticed but his powers obviously noticeable. His fun came to a stop as he stopped to take a sip of water, throwing the change on the counter as he grabbed a bottle of water. Where is May⊠he thought, looking around at the people in front of him as he leaned against a wall, his sweaty back sticking to his shirt.
Summer? Mayâs voice filled his head. Summer paused what he was doing and dropped the bottle of water in his hand, a small smile forming on his face as he started a jog home. Summer? Summer chuckled a bit and decided to not reply- he wanted to see if he could scare May for once. He waved his hands, causing the birds on his shoulders to scatter. "I will find you all soon again!" He said to the birds that fluttered above his head, ignoring the glances that he got from the other supernaturals. "Distract May for me!" The birds twittered back in response and sped off, leaving Summer all alone.
He turned from the large street back onto the small alley that led to May and Summerâs apartment, ignoring the sudden cold that he plunged into. May... He sighed as he shivered, as he turned around as he sensed that his sister wasn't in their apartment. Casting one last cursory look at the house that was hidden by multiple trees, Summer shrugged and made his way off again, only to spot that his sister had been but a few steps away from himself. "May! Summer yelled, forgetting his earlier ploy to scare his sister.
