Once he had arrived at the airport, Xander began to experience feelings of apprehension as he made his way to the terminal. "Xander, man, what the hell are you even doing?" he questioned himself in his thoughts. He had an odd habit of conversing with himself mentally when he felt the need to talk something out. "I have to go, the Universe is telling me to."
"The 'universe'? Do you even hear yourself right now?"
"It sounds crazy..."
"That's because it IS crazy."
"Well I AM crazy! I'm talking to you, aren't I?"
"TouchΓ©."
"I should really consider therapy..."
He had been so lost in his thoughts that he hadn't even realized he'd bumped into the ticket check lady. "Gah! I'm so sorry, miss.."
"That's no problem!!" she said with a big smile as she chuckled. "I'll need to check your ticket, please?"
"Yep, here you go." he replied, presenting his ticket to her.
"Lovely! Enjoy your stay in Japan, Mister Lockheart! Have a safe flight!" she smiled again.
Xander wondered why there wasn't that many people here... in fact, there was hardly anybody. "Is it not common to travel to Japan this time of year or something?" He shrugged it off and boarded the plane. He looked for a good aisle seat somewhere near the middle of the plane. He wasn't fond of flying, and he had heard once that people in the middle of the plane are least likely to die in case of a crash. He knew it wasn't likely a scientific fact and that he should probably doubt the validity, but he figured it couldn't hurt, right? His assigned seat was a window seat towards the back of the plane, but he had asked the stewardess if he could pick somewhere else since there was hardly anybody on the flight, and she didn't seem to have a problem with it. He stuffed his larger duffle-sized carryon bag into the storage compartment overhead and sat in an empty row of chairs. "Thank god.." he silently sighed to himself in relief of the fact that there was hardly anybody else seated near him; just a woman, looked like about in her middle ages with her baby in the row opposite his, and one row back. He tucked his backpack between his legs and waited for takeoff. At this point, a normal person might put in music or something, but Xander preferred people watching from afar. His thoughts were mixed with feelings of anticipation to find out what exactly he was doing with his life right at this moment, boarding a plane to a strange academy in the middle of Japan. He was desperate to know who sent that letter, who could have known about his powers. Then he mulled over a particular part of the letter, "to help train and discipline you, to achieve better mastery of your abilities - " what exactly did that mean? Was he able to do more than he even knew..? He never imagined that this strange ability of his would amount to anything more than exactly what it's been: just a way with people. A really good way with people. Xander wasn't dumb; he knew there was a difference between simply being a charming and persuasive person, and being able to do what he does. He could get away with murder if he wanted... heck, he's gotten away with things almost as bad.
Then he took notice to a group of kids way up at the front of the plane. Must be some group of friends on vacation, he thought. He watched as they entertained each other. He was too far to hear what they were saying, but the one girl seemed to be harassing her more quiet and bookish friend in the seat in front of her. Xander couldn't hide a small smile that found its way to his face. He wondered what it must be like to have friends like that.. companions who you are so close with, you can do anything together, even take a vacation across the globe. He made up stories for the kids as he observed them.. the girl in front, the one that looked rather unamused, she must have been the brains of the group. The girl behind her is obviously the crazy one. The girl next to the quiet girl had fiery red hair and some tattoos, maybe some piercings from what he could see. She's obviously the rebel. And then the boy near the window getting all the attention.. lucky bastard. He's either the pimp or the token homosexual of the group, Xander mused to himself. He caught himself slightly giggling to himself. "Whoops.."
He began to zone out as he sat and waited for take off. It sure felt like it was taking a while..
