Jayme eased back a bit; he wanted to believe her, even though she very well could be lying. He chose to take her word for it, for now. His heart picked up a beat or two with the increased pressure on his leg and he found himself holding back something new entirely; his self-control.
"It's got me here, hasn't it?" Jayme pointed out, gesturing around the room with a proud smile; he was co-owner of this company, and not just because he was with Rowan. He truly did have talent, and part of him really wanted to rub it in Hannah's face like an over-privileged child. Jayme didn't come from riches, though and both he and Hannah knew he'd come from the ground up, which made him even more proud. He sobered up a little and smiled genuinely at her with a slight sadness in his eyes, "It's been what's brought me where I am. My talent's got me the life I always dreamed of, H...now why are you really here, talking to me? You've avoided me like the plague since you left." If she was really on a business trip, why in the world would she want to see him?"
