"What am I doing?" I repeated with a laugh, a harsh sound ripped from my throat. "What are you doing?" I pushed Christy's chair out of the way roughly and strode up to her. I stopped when I couldn't get any closer without touching her. Her chest brushed mine as she stretched her neck to look up at me, her lips slightly parted. I hadn't been this close to her in months. Her eyes were as hard and grey as rocks. I made myself hold her glare.
"Christy's a sweet girl. Probably the nicest I've ever brought home. But you're being the biggest bitch." I spat the word, poison dripping from every letter. "What the hell is the matter with you?" That wasn't really what I wanted to know. Why are you letting that guy all over you? I stopped speaking for a moment, for fear of my voice betraying anything other than anger.
