The streets were relatively quiet as she walked asides from the stray dogs one heard here and there. Streets eerily abandoned, buildings crumbling all around, one would think this were some sort of post apocalyptic world but no, it was just Detroit. Ada sighed as she trudged on through the cold, her breath making wispy puffs in front of her. One thing she prided herself on was her utter lack of caring what others thought of her and so the simple fact that she cared so greatly about what James thought bothered her immensely. Being casual friends with someone is one thing, it’s a mutual give and take relationship but anything past that are dangerous and dark waters. Maybe she should consider distancing herself, just doing her job, coming and going, a simple that’s that.

Absorbed in her thoughts Ada had no idea James was behind her, not that she would have had an inkling anyway the sneaky bastard. The moment he whispered she whirled around in an almost comical, flailing fashion. She then planted herself in an attack ready position, eyes wide and chest heaving from adrenaline. Once she saw who her alleged attacker was though, she relaxed and folded her arms over her chest; an annoyed expression quickly plastering itself to her face.

“Jesus Christ man! Sneaking up on unsuspecting people in vampire territory at night?! What’s wrong with you?!”

After getting out her nerves via shouting, she sighed heavily and ran a hand over her messy hair.

“Yea, yea I know you don’t break promises but I didn’t want to interrupt your conversation with the prissy new vamp you were chatting up. It seemed like you two were getting along and far be it from me to cock block anybody so off I went.”

Ada did her best to keep the bitterness out of her voice and she thought she did a pretty damn good job of it. Stupid James with his stupid pretty face and being all nice all the time! Stupid fantastic bastard.

“So, you know, I’ve pretty much got it covered from here. You already saw my moves!”

She did a quick reenactment of her flailing from before, before continuing.

“I’ll be alright and you can go back and work or..whatever else you need to do.”
