Kyra found Marcey. "Mom?" She started, "Do I really look that old? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine Kyra."
"Is Shrade mad at me? Please tell me he isn't."
Kyra cocked her head, "Do humans normally deny what they can't emotionally handle? Oh, wait, you're not human, so you shouldn't be taking off when it is vital we need to stay in group." She was blunt and curious as she wasn't used to comforting other people. "Shrade isn't mad, or happy right now."
Still not knowing what to do, and feeling like she needed to get some stuff off her chest, she started talking, "I hate this school. I never wanted to come here in the first place, but... I see it has the advantages of meeting people who can easily become your friend." She sat down beside Marcey. "On the other hand, you will also meet pessimistic jerks like John Kenway." Her thoughts suddenly lingering on what she had done. "Marcey, I think I did something incredibly stupid; I kissed John before I took off after you bolted. I don't know why I did that, but I did and now I beginning to regret it." She pressed her knuckles lightly against her temple as if she could physically push the memory of kissing John Kenway, a human, out of her head.
