Sarah woke with a start. It was that nightmare yet again. Each time she prepared for sleep she hoped to have an easy rest and each night her hopes were dashed. It felt real, like the vast empty plains and the darkness was familiar. The only source of light coming from the full moon. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but openness. But Sarah felt like she had a purpose for being there. Then a sound that echoed would be heard and Sarah would only be filled with a sense of extreme fear and dread. She figured someone about to be executed would feel the same way. It was something she never got used to. Each time Sarah had the dream it felt like she was witnessing it for the first time.
"Attention students this is your new acting Headmaster. I realize this morning has been a bit chaotic but for now if you would, make your way to your designated classroom â that is an order. Mr. Kurayami, Mr. Akigawa and Miss Rayne, you are also wanted at class." The voice came from a series of speakers that were installed in the ceiling of Sarah's apartment. She thought they were just for the entertainment systems but it looks like they were also linked to the PA system. The sound wasn't loud and at a comfortable volume.
Then she realized that the man mentioned he was the new Headmaster. What had happened to Midora? Had he also left? There were so many people in and out of the school in just a day. And that was only for the classes of the new mages and demons. Sarah still had little clue as to what it was like for the rest of the classes at the school.
Sarah got herself dressed and got her satchel. The papers from the assessment were still inside and unread due to the random rise and falls in the roster. She still had to make her way across campus to get to the classroom. Sarah, once again, took out her pack of cigarettes and saw that it was almost empty. She'd have to either go by the store to gather herbs to make more or get some from the garden. She didn't know what the garden held or if there were any herbs being grown. Sarah guessed it wouldn't hurt to check there first since it was much closer than the store considering the garden was on campus. As she inhaled the first bit of the cigarette she noticed a petite girl walking around, obviously, in search of something. Her eyes would glance at the paper she held then look around. Her slow pace is would made it evident she wasn't sure where she was going.
Another student or teacher, again?
The girl had horns as well as small bat-like wings which made it obvious she was a demon. Her wings reminded Sarah of her own. They seemed much too small to carry a person, yet, there they were.
"Excuse me." Sarah called out as she walked up to the girl with a welcoming smile on her face. "Couldn't help but notice you looked to be searching for something." Sarah glanced at the girl's paper. The teacher's assumption was correct. This girl was, indeed, a new student to the school as well as Sarah's class. [color=#1A158A]"It seems you and I are headed for the same destination. I am one of two of the instructors to the classes you are going to be attending. My name is Ms. Rayne. If you follow me I'll take you to where we need to be."
Lilianne felt all too familiar as she slept in the room alone again. The two empty beds taunting only what could have been. She hated the fact that the room was so big. It was too big for one person. An announcement over the PA speakers somewhere in the room made her stir. A new Headmaster? It didn't mean too much for her. There weren't many established rules so if those changed, then it would take little to no time to adjust.
As Lili got ready for class and headed out the door her thoughts switched to the Incubus. The fact that she'd have to sit in the same room as the demon made her fill dirty. She was fine with any other type of demons but it was the Incubus that changed her life in the first place. She learned that the demon was the reason why Liliane was abandoned. Her mother got mixed in with one and it wanted the girl dead. Luckily, her mother dropped her off at the orphanage instead. Liliane's mother was most likely killed at the hands of the demon shortly after. While Lili was in the training program she was told of these events. She didn't know why. It may have been part training to help her with her emotions because it was the first and only time Lili had cried. They didn't mention the identity of the Incubus and for good reason. Liliane would have used her training to break out of the facility and go on a manhunt to track the demon down and kill him.
Now the closest thing to the being that ruined her life was in her class. She was reminded of this as Liliane finally made her way to class and opened the door. Liliane had brought her Kitsune mask for strength. If the demon ever tried to interact with her it would be the only thing keeping Lili from throwing herself at him. The mask kept her calm. Lili saw a man at the teacher's desk with his feet resting on it. She wondered if he was the new Headmaster. As Liliane walked by the man she found herself glaring at the red haired demon as he made light conversation with the rabbit eared girl. She made sure to sit as far from the Incubus as possible. As Liliane sat down she embraced her mask and tried not to think of her mother. She just tried to remember her training of controlling her emotions.
"If you let them control you then you often did stupid things." That's what her drill sergeant told her. It was then she noticed that she was one of the early students to come to class. Lili just wanted Sarah to show up. The sight of a familiar face should help calm her down as well.
