Flint reached out and took the pistol in his hand. The wood was sanded smooth and the gold in lay was intricate and masterfully crafter but it was the wolfs head that really caught his eye. Mid howl the wolf was shown with its head thrown back and hair furled around the neck. It reminded him of the hulking grey and black dire wolf that he'd grown up with. He could almost hear Grey Wind's howl in the recesses of his mind. As if out of the cold northern mist stepped the paws of the beast that had been his oldest friend. It's massive paws, tearing at the snow as it ran and it'ls golden eyes constantly friendly. They called him the man without fear but it was Grey Wind who'd always proved the fearless on, he'd killed too many men to know fear again.
"Robyn..."
Flint's voice was softer than usual, lack of the bold tenacity it was known for. He looked up and met the dark, eyes of the woman who'd stolen his heart. He pulled her into his lap, her laughter bringing a smile to his face. He kissed her, first tasting her lips then her neck.
"You're right, a week won't be long enough."
She chuckled and he stopped long enough to look her in the eye.
"Thank you for this..."
He said holding the pistol in his right hand.
"I know I don't say much... about before we met but..."
He touched the barrel of the gun to the necklace of teeth at his neck.
"He was part of it, who I was. His name was Grey Wind and he was my friend. He would have liked you."
The pain was still there, the loss of his old life, that was evident but with one look at Robyn Sheva the sun shown on the ocean heralding a new day and Flint was happy to still be sailing. He breathed a content sight and kissed her one more time.
"I appreciate this love, truly. I look forward to repaying the gesture."
He said as he stood up with Robyn in his arms. He knew how she loved it when he lifted her about as if she was weightless when in truth she basically was. He spun her around once as they enjoyed the taste of each others lips before setting her down. He holstered his new pistol, moving his old one to the small of his back to use as a spare.
"Let's get on that beach, eh? We've got rum to buy and a room to rent."
