Cullen sighed to himself as he listened to the headmaster continue speaking. The patrols would be doubled and everyone needed to stay in groups of three at least. He wasn't too worried about that for himself. He had friends and he often was in the company of other students and other Prefects. He was more worried about the younger students. As a 6th year, he knew more about defending himself than the younger generation and he had a duty to protect them. Especially those that were on the list. Many of the names on the list were from Slytherin and Gryffindor. He let his blue-green eyes scan the tables as the students began to talk amongst each other. Most would have an easy time grouping up, but there would be those who didn't have a close network of friends. He would round those students up to make sure they got along and were protected.
The Ravenclaw Prefect glanced down when the food appeared. He wasn't all that hungry but he would have to eat if he wanted to keep his strength and mind sharp and ready for whatever happened next. He forced himself to grab an English muffin and buttered it, his mind elsewhere. Who could be doing this? It could be one of the professors. He glanced at the table in the front of the room but they were all engaged in conversation. But it could also be a student. He wasn't quite sure where to begin. He was going to have to watch those he came into contact with carefully. His first thought went to Ash since she was a trouble maker but that didn't make sense. She was on the list. He may just have to take her under his wing if she couldn't find a couple of people to group up with. She was a bit at odds with everyone, including her own house. Joy. She was the one that talked to snakes. Wonderful. He did not like snakes in the least.
Cullen did notice she was talking Rose Weasley, he believed. He wondered if she'd find a group after all. He hoped she didn't say anything nasty to ruin her chance at making new friends that would help her out in a bad spot. Yes, he'd wait until everyone had grouped up and see who was left and then take them under his wing. He figured that would be the best way to protect the most students. He took a bite of his food as he continued to scan the room.
