The book she was reading was one of a short series of fantasy novels set in another world which was full of magic. Magic seemed to be a common theme throughout most of the fictional books that she read, though sometimes Emerald would stray from the genre. A lot of the spells in the books were rather interesting, and sometimes she would imagine what it would be like to actually cast them, although her lack of skill was something that held her back from messing around too much. Absently, she could hear a small commotion in the background as she read. Something about paint and cookies? It was probably a couple of different conversations but background noise tended to blur together when she lost herself in a novel.
"Would you like something? I've noticed you've been alone, and thought I should at the least say hello. I'm Wynter Vellant, it'd be a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
Enthralled in her book as she was, Emerald didn't notice anyone approaching until the sound of some speaking reached her ears. In her surprise, she dropped her book, barely catching it though losing the page she was on in the process. Moving out of the slouch she had slipped in to, she looked up, her green eyes meeting the royal blue of Fairy Tail's resident knight. She had yet to meet Wynter in person, but Emerald had caught glimpses of the woman from time to time, and even before joining the guild she had admired the famous 'Cold Steel'. "Oh! Uhh, hi." She smiled shyly. "My name's Emerald Jay, it's nice to meet you too. I-I'm not hungry, but thanks anyway." Here her stomach gave a quiet rumble in protest and Emerald blushed lightly in embarrassment as she reached up to fiddle with the goggles that sat upon her head. "I guess I am a little hungry. Maybe..."
