Shifting herself away from the wall, Alice decided to make rounds again in search for Kate, but a voice calling her name distracted her if only for a moment. It wasnβt one she recognized, that was for sure. She had never met an Irish person, and was extremely curious to know why the curly-mop headed boy was here in the first place looking for her. In any other circumstance she would go up and ask, but she hadnβt the time. She needed Kate, and they both needed to get out of the party as soon as possible. So, she settled with taking a picture of the Irish-boy before he managed to squeeze himself outside.
Alice was quick to note the amount of others shuffling over outside as well, trying to cram themselves out of there in an almost hysterical un-orderly manner. Shouts of βFight!", βBrianna!β and most alarmingly, βKate!β could be heard chanted from various different people and it wasnβt hard to put two and two together. Alice was going to give Kate hell for not waiting for her, no matter how empathetic sheβd previously felt that her sister had a bruised eye. She could only imagine how she looked now, and couldn't even begin to think of how bad Brianna looked. That would be a rough sight to see.
Deciding she wouldn't take her chances of trying to follow the sea of people flooding through the small patio doorway, knowing very well that her short stature would just manage to help her get trampled, pushed, and shoved, she quickly knew what she needed to do. She needed to get to a high up place to be able to see everything clearly, and she needed to act as a distraction so Kate would have an easy advantage of slipping away. The highest place she could think of going? The roof. Running and slipping through the crowd as quick as she could, Alice ducked under arms and quickly cheated her body sideways in order to slip between the small spaces of people. The last thing she knew she needed to do was spill someoneβs drink and get pulled back and yelled at by some overly beefy dude like another boy seemed to have done a few feet away from her.
Running up the stairs, she opened the first door to her right, knowing that if a window was in there it would likely be facing the backyard. What she hadnβt expected was to find a couple already up there doing something that she would rather not have seen, but all Alice could do at that moment was avert her eyes, apologizing in a flustered tone with adding, β I need to borrow your window!β Racing over to the small window, she opened it up and popped out the screen. The lightweight screen unfortunately fell unto someoneβs head, to which she called out, βsorry!β before standing on the, thankfully, wide window sill. Latching her hands onto the edge of the small, wood and shingled awning above the window, she stepped off the ledge and let herself hang for only a moment, before she lifted her weight unto the small roof. She couldnβt stand on this little bit for long, however, knowing that these small decorative roofs werenβt meant for people to stand upon, but mostly to avert rain off the sides.
Alice took a moment to glance over to where people crowded around, and wasnβt the least bit surprised to see her dear sister and Brianna right smack in the center of it all. Even she couldnβt stop the audible groan that left her mouth. In a quicker fashion then before, Alice turned around and grabbed onto the edge of the roof, praying to God that the rain gutter would support her just long enough to pull herself onto the much larger, higher, and safer platform the roof provided. It took her all if five second to pull herself up and stand, now at the advantage point she needed.
She was about to holler something out to distract Brianna, but before she could, a boy who looked to be the one who previously was in a scuffle inside approached the two in a calm manner, saying something which, considering Aliceβs distance and the loudness of the party, she couldnβt hear. None the less, it seemed to gain their attention for only a minute, but knowing Kate, she was sure whatever he was saying could wait until she decided she was done with Brianna. Alice on the other hand knew that now was the time for Kate to be done with Brianna and to leave whether she liked it or not. She just needed to get Brianna away from her.
Alice cleared her throat slightly, as she was going to have to speak pretty damn loud in order for Brianna to hear her. Without thinking much of what she was doing, she hollered, βhey, Brianna, smile for the camera!β before the previously pristinely manicured girl, whose nose was now bloodied, hair was a mess, and all around just looked plain terrible shot her head around to see where the voice had come from. Finally, Brianna spotted Alice on the roof, and in the split second she had, Alice lifted up her camera and took a few zoomed in shots of the girl in her rough state. Alice wasnβt one to do mean things to people, but it wasnβt like she would spread these pictures around. If anything, she would just make one Kateβs birthday card for next year. Right now, however, all she was concerned about was getting the reaction she had been hoping for.
An almost half-scream, half-growl ripped out of Briannaβs throat as she hollered out to Alice, βyou crazy bitch, give me that camera!β Alice quickly dropped down off the roof and back onto the awning, making it seem like she was about to go back into the window in which she had crawled out from originally. Brianna took the bait and shot inside like a rocket, likely on her way to great Alice by smashing her camera into bits and pieces, and then smashing her face into a wall. She had to get out before that happened. Letting herself hang from the awning once more, instead of swinging back into the window, Alice let herself drop the few feet, bending her knees slightly, keeping them unlocked as she braced for the impact of the ground beneath her. Alice was always one to climb and go up to high places, so knew very well how to land properly from a high drop. It came in handy a lot of the time. As she landed on her feet, Alice spared little to no time at all, calling over to her sister who still stood beside the boy who seemed to have just gotten into the same scuffle with the dude from inside, βKate, youβre going to have to flirt another day, we have to go now!β
