'To whom this may concern' was the start of the letter that would perhaps signal one of the biggest changes in my life. An island getaway sounds idyllic in theory but in practice, when the best are gathered together there's bound to be some sort of conflict eventually. At best this will be a nice change of pace, perhaps this vacation will give me the inspiration I seek. At worst, well I suppose it could provide me with the chance to continue to test my skills as a trainer. I wonder what my brother would think if he were in my place. Perhaps I shall write him a letter later on and find out.
Finishing the latest entry in her journal, Neve signed it off with a practiced flourish. Currently she was on the boat she had hired to take her to her destination and had taken to scribbling down in the book to pass time until she arrived. 'I guess I'll need to start using another book soon.' The thought lingered in her mind as she stared at her journal. With a plain brown cover it didn't seem to be anything impressive, although she only had enough space for perhaps a couple more entries and the book was starting to look a little tattered around the edges.
"Hey miss! We're here!" A knock on the door accompanied the call and the purple haired lady blinked a couple of times at the sudden announcement. Stuffing the journal into the case she had brought with her, Neve scooped up Nyx from where the small fox Pokémon had been snoozing on the counter.
Cradling the Zorua in her arms, she opened the door and smiled politely at the sailor who had been kind enough to bring her here. "Thank you." Neve pressed the money she owed him into the man's hand, along with a little extra, he had been courteous enough not to bother her until they arrived and that was something she had appreciated.
Her obligations here fulfilled, she left the room she had been in and paused for a moment, taking in the sight before her. It was certainly impressive and she could make out a few figures over by the gate that she recognised from various articles she had read.
Neve took a deep breath in, steeling herself for any confrontations that may occur before disembarking and heading toward the group of people and Pokémon who seemed to be arguing? She eyed them warily before settling herself at a bit of a distance from them so that she didn't have to get involved, not bothering with any greetings beyond a slight nod of her head.
She observed the group for a minute or so longer to see if anything else happened before perching herself on the case containing her belongings and pulling out a small notebook and pen that she had taken to carrying around in her jacket pocket, Neve was still wearing it despite the warm weather there seemed to currently be. Perhaps she would start on the letter for her brother while she was waiting to be let in.
Nyx was placed on her lap so that the blue and black Zorua could continue to doze despite having been jostled around a fair amount during transit. Neve then opened the book and flicked through the pages to the next empty one and paused with her pen hovering above the white sheet. 'How do I even begin to write this anyway?'
