"Sure, I'm in! I don't think I got anything better to do."
The Johto regional champion agreed to accompany her around the island. Kei nodded and extended a hand to her as a friendly gesture. "Thank you Ms. Sadamatsu. I've heard about your exploits by the way and I must say, I am rather impressed."
"A walk to learn the layout of this place could be useful, it would certainly prevent us from getting lost in the future. Or as lost as we may get at least."
Likewise, Neve Bennett agreed to the excursion too so Kei also extended her hand to greet the other girl. "You make a fair point Ms. Bennett. Pleasure to meet you as well. I don't know several people who can pull off a monotype offensive barring the regional Elite Fours and leaders the way you can."
Somehow, she was able to form an entourage of her own consisting of those who stayed behind on the mansion. The ranch on the island King called Aria seemed interesting though. They might need to check it out soon as well, assuming there's a route they can take on foot. The boat's probably left at that point plus, with over half of the visitors there, the place is rather crowded right now.
"Anything in particular either of you are wanting to find or are we just going to see where we end up?"
"Well, I don't have any place I want to go to for the sole reason that I do not know anything about this place yet. That's what I want to see though. And I want to see just how "private" these islands are." Kei answered back. "Maybe they've prepared special sites just for Trainer battles and contests. It might be a good idea to check them out. For you guys at least."
"Well, I guess I'll see you down here after a while? We should get our stuff up in our rooms before we leave. Later." Kei gave the two a slight bow as she exited, following an assistant up to her room.
"Even if it's just the standard accommodations...this is on a whole different level." Kei was legitimately surprised upon seeing the room she was assigned to. The furniture all looked expensive and it seems she was lucky enough to get a room with a balcony with a nice view of the ocean. As requested, she should be able to get some good signal in that area.
"Thank you. I'll let you know if there's anything else." Kei thanks the person who assisted her before she proceeded to sort out the things she carried, which isn't much. Apart from clothes and toiletries, all Kei brought with her were some reading materials and her laptop. After sorting out the clothes in their respective drawers, she took her laptop out to check the island's signal strength.
"Guess King stayed true to his word--hmm?" Immediately upon checking her e-mails, there was one that came from the office just a few minutes after she had arrived on the island. Before she can even open it though, her notifications went off, informing her of an incoming video call which she immediately opened.
"Having fun on your little escapade? Don't worry, you're not in any trouble. I just want to know why you did not tell me about this beforehand." The stoic visage and almost expressionless voice of her employer greeted her upon boot up.
"Huh? I was certain I filed a vacation leave before I left...Maybe it hadn't been entered in the system yet? Do you mind checking on your end?" Kei found the little detail odd while she lifted the laptop and took it out on the balcony where she continued the conversation.
"Hmm...that might be the case. Maybe I should stroll down to the station myself."
"Yeah, you do that then. By the way Arius?"
"What?"
"Do you know anybody from the IPO? Detectives, undercover agents and stuff? Particularly ones that have been involved in any of the major cases we've worked on in the past couple of years?"
"Why do you want to know about that?" Arius asks, his cold expression never breaking for just a single moment.
"Nothing. I just met someone."
"Hmm...well, I do not know anyone by name. Couldn't really care either way. But sure. I'll look into it--when I feel like it."
"Thanks. Oh, and one other thing. Do you mind if I borrow some assets?"
"What for? It's not like you have a case to work on right now."
"I'm in an island with some of the best Trainers around the world. Let's just leave it at that. Besides, they're still technically my assets."
"Fine with me. It might take a while to clear this though."
"Thanks. Well, I have to go. Got some people waiting for me downstairs." Knowing Arius is just the type who shuts off his PC after something like that, Kei didn't bother bidding him a proper goodbye as she walked back inside the room. Seeing that it might be a long walk, she changed into something more comfortable before heading out, taking three of her Pokemon with her.
She waited down at the lobby where she asked to meet up with the two. She decided to re-read the invitation and a small tabloid she found on the side while she waited, trying to kill time while learning more things about the island as far as the information made public was concerned.
