Gemma was grinning when she and Lina walked up to the campsite. With a single glance, she noticed her brother and Alex were there, Flora, Ellie and.. Dettie. She let her eyes linger for a second, before going back to Callum. He looked.. better. Much better. Like there was a light coming from inside him. What the hell happened?" She thought and then shrugged. She would need to talk to Callum at some point tonight. When her eyes searched for Dettie, she noticed her off to the side, her cell pressed to her ear. She distantly heard Dettie's voice. Hell she could pick that voice out from her dreams. "Auntie M...matter?" A line formed between her eyebrows as she listened to whatever the other person on the line--Her aunt? The one in Australia?--was saying. All the color seemed to drain from her face. She looked like the ground had dropped out from under her.
Something clenched in Gemma's chest. Something was wrong. The last time she saw the look Dettie had now, she was moving. She was only here temporarily, right? So that wasn't it.. Dettie suddenly hung up and walked heavily over to a camping chair and settled heavily into it. Her hands were clinched together and she stared vacantly into the fire. Something was very, very wrong. Gemma placed a hand on Lina's shoulder and whispered, "I'll be right back. Make sure we have everything from the car?"
She walked up towards Dettie, the past forgotten. All she could focus on was the look of pain in her eyes. She approached slowly, afraid to startle Dettie and have her slam the door on her thoughts. Something was wrong and if Dettie didn't share it, it would eat at her... wouldn't it? She kneeled down in front of her, the moisture from the lightly damp ground seeping into the knee of her jeans. She reached out slowly and placed her injured hand on Dettie without thinking about. "Dettie?" She cleared her throat. Wrong approach. "Alphie? She reached out with her good hand and lifted Dettie's chin a bit so she could see her eyes. "Alphie, come back. What's happened? I haven't seen you this distraught since you told me.. you had to move."
