|| The Death of a Bachelor || Panic! At the Disco ||
"Yeah, but if you're not at full strength, I can't fight at full strength," Echo tried to explain. She fed off of the energy of her Master after all and if Flo was in pain, Echo would feel it. Her leg throbbed, although not disabled, it was still quite painful. Echo was doing her best, but she had made a dire mistake; going into battle without a real weapon. It seemed the girl had underestimated her opponent who stabbed a needle through her stomach and made Echo momentarily double over. "I can keep going!" She stood on wobbly legs, coughing slightly due to the pain. She looked around for something she could use, an idea coming to mind. Those needles, if Echo could take one from Annalise she could use it to cut off the demon's own hands. Echo launched another vine, the second green diamond shattering.
She wrenched a needle out of Annalise's grip, taking hold of it and running, launching herself at her enemy. It took several jabs to get one hand off, the blood not doing much to bother her. It splattered her face and hair, but Echo wasn't deterred. She moved right on to the next hand, stabbing it off, disconnecting the tissue and muscle and finally, bone. "There you damn beast, try to take me on now!" Echo cackled, the remaining diamonds glowing as she launched another attack, this time jabbing the needle through Annalise's heart. She jumped back as the demon seemed to wind into lengths of what looked like rope around a shining core. Echo grabbed onto it, tossing the core to her human since it hurt her to touch it. "That's your souvenir," Echo wiped her cheek on her arm, doing nothing more than smearing the blood across her face.
"The Police have arrived," Christopher spoke, striding up behind them, Doll floating alongside him. "That took long enough, the body count rose because of your inability to kill her." Echo glared, "Yeah, well you'd struggle too if you hadn't been given a real weapon." She had tossed the needle aside, it was stupid anyhow, useless since it only had one sharp point and that was the end. "The core," Christopher explained, "put it in here and save it, you're going to need it when we return." He handed her a tiny blue bag. "The cores you collect, or soul fragments, never let your demon touch them." Christopher explained, there was still plenty of learning for all of them to do. "If they touch it for too long they can accidentally absorb it," he ran a hand through his hair. "You don't want that to happen under any circumstances. If it comes down to it, destroy the core yourself."
"We should head back to the base before the police give us trouble," Doll said lightly. "You know how they hate dealing with Tower Agents," it was true enough, the Police seemed to find them an unnecessary burden, using demons to fight demons. They thought the system to be backwards which Echo found funny considering they tried to fight fire with fire.
