|| Stand By Me|| Florence and the Machine ||
Miiko sighed in relief when she was told that the wound didn't hurt. "I was so scared," Miiko admitted. "I thought you were going to leave me the same way that Stella left me," what happened if Spirits died? Did they pass on to the next world? Did they wander in purgatory for all eternity? Miiko didn't want to think about that, she didn't want to think about what could possibly happen if she lost Rose. If that happened, Miiko would never be able to go on another mission, she wouldn't get to save Stella. No one would ever trust her to do anything on her own, much less ever help with a mission. "I trust you," Miiko nodded, knowing that if anyone could keep her safe, it would be her spirit because Rose was always with Miiko. Rose addressed Kennan and Sanaa, then turned back to Miiko. "But Daddy told us to stay here and guard it!" It seemed that she wasn't going to get a choice this time. Rose tugged on Miiko's sleeve, pulling her out of the tunnel. Rose seemed to have memorized the way up to the surface, which greatly impressed Miiko.
Red haired girl? What appeared to be pirates were pointing and shouting, but Miiko's hair wasn't red. "It's pink! Are you blind?!" Miiko shouted in a huff, which she no doubt should have been the least of her worries at the moment. Rose grabbed Miiko, launching herself up the tree with an impressive amount of speed. "Wow! We're so high!" It goes without saying that Miiko may have a slightly skewed order of priorities. It was up in the tree that the battle really came to light. When Sanaa and Kennan merged, they broke off a branch of the World Tree. Miiko felt the strike to her chest, her heart thumping painfully. "No!" She screamed, watching as the tree branch fell. Sanaa and Kennan were quick to change their form, landing on the branch that Miiko and Rose were resting on. "No, you-you can't do that. You can't break the tree!" Miiko turned towards them, in the distance an audible rumbling was taking place. "Landslide..."
Up here they would be safe, but those below them would not. Jace could hear it, he could feel the ground shaking beneath them. Jace could not brave a glance at the tree, however, not if he wanted to stay alive. "You bastards, your men hurt the tree didn't they!" Were Varus's team of mutiny happy pirates really so daft that they would attack an island's very core? "We are not brothers!" Jace replied, "nor have we ever been brothers!" Jace could not kneel down to lift his gun, his hand was hot, but otherwise unhurt. At the mention of Varus's plan, Jace's eyes widened. "So you thought you could kidnap my daughter to go on this suicidal plan against the Republic? I don't think so!" Jace slashed again with his sword, giving Gavin and Callum a glance. The two of them got the message and slowly slunk off, disappearing into the darkness.
Athena did not freeze when the image of her dead daughter appeared at her feet. She did not hesitate nor get cold feet, but instead struck the child across the cheek. "Thirteen is still too young to be doing such awful things."
