In a different level of reality to the real one, two figures sat in a strange porcelain room decorated in checkerboard squares on the floor, giving off the feel of being some otherworldly pavilion given the windows that showed various stills of the game board. The Elite Four at Aurum, Prisca and Miiko in bed together, Stella and Yui in the Sand Prison, but the game was suspended for the moment because one player was currently trying to think up his move. There were two players, of course, one was a girl with black hair, and clear violet eyes, the other being almost an embodiment of the darkness. How did this world exist? Was it all entirely symbolic? Or was it real in a way mortals would never be able to perceive?
"So our opening moves are all done, it seems." Mizuki said with a shrug, glaring across the table with a fanged grin. Their pieces were scattered about the game board, but neither of them had crossed into the other side just yet. Thanos glanced at it seemingly without a care. "We've had a few little scuffles, we both took a few losses, but given the way the board is set up, this is gonna be our first real fight, isn't it?" It was true. Of course, Mizuki needed to create a big fight and she needed to win it because without a doubt, she needed to regain her Queen piece, to steal it back from Thanos's trap. She had been so confident in her Queen piece but then so easily it was taken, just like that. "This isn't even a challenge, little girl." Thanos sounded almost bored, but Mizuki knew he was enjoying this as well.
The Goddess leaned forward with a grim sort of smile. "For the past hundred years, we've both been bound here." She said, looking at what was both the game room and her prison all at once. After she scattered into ten pieces she used the last of her light to trap both her soul and the soul of Thanos, the one who won the first game. But he only won the first game because Mizuki hadn't ascended and become a player until it was already too late. Now they were fighting on equal ground. "Ah, but you aren't my first opponent. My memories are hazy, but I do recall another incident..." Another endless game, billions of games, but that one was against Shoku... and that one Mizuki had entirely different pieces. She still wasn't quite used to the current ones just yet.
"You're just a mortal girl." Thanos sounded fierce, as if he wanted this to be over and done with already, but Mizuki wasn't going to let that happen. "You have no right to imprison me here." But Mizuki wiggled her finger with a smile. "I'm the Goddess now." She explained, eyes going wide. "If you think I'll let you give Yui a sad ending, you're mistaken." Thanos scoffed, not taking this seriously at all, but Mizu knew he was forced to stay here, there was no way he'd escape the game board. "I'm still surprised you didn't bring back your precious family, your strongest pieces." The Goddess didn't waver in her determination, but her eyes betrayed a certain loneliness that wished she could have gone with them. "I'm letting them rest in peace." She whispered softly, and then grinned. "Now, let's go! Mizu's special Queen-piece rescue strategy, start!" The battle of the Sand Prison was soon to begin!
