"Brandon." He hiccuped again and the ostrich turned abruptly back into a table. "Brandon didn't know he was your nephew. You didn't know your nephew was alive even." He pointed out and grinned. With an expansive gesture, he tried to show that what he meant encompassed the whole word. What he succeeded in was a 60s technicolor burst painting the room. The bar officially looked rather groovy, at least in paint.
"Look, Catherine. At the time, all anyone knew about the kid was that he was a serial killing psychopath child vampire. Taking him out of the picture, however it was done, allowed him to get better, even if none of us understand how that happened. In the end, you did good. Stop beating yourself up over it." He said firmly.
