The Opening Ceremony was most certainly exciting. Lise once again had that dark expression as she looked at the graduating class. "I should have been there." If the Senate was trying to make her go to their side, this most certainly wasn't working. L wanted to free her from the endless cycle of school, because he was like a daughter to him - but he couldn't, Lise was bound to the shackles created by the Senate. "Let's graduate together." Irina said, keeping up with appearances. "The three of us." The three girls of Group C. Lise looked as if she wanted to accept that offer but she smiled grimly again. "Even after the next few years, I still won't be allowed through." Well, it didn't matter. By the time it was time to graduate, Irina and Emma would already have betrayed them, and Lise's heart would gain another painful notch as friends turn against her.
But such things were necessary in war.
She wasn't exactly impressed by the Ceremony, even if Emma certainly was. "It's nice, huh?" Irina smiled peacefully at her supposed little sister, wondering if she would even be allowed to protect her. "I don't know if I'll be able to keep you safe here, they'll probably prefer you learn how to protect yourself instead." But if there was ever a safe way to learn to be strong, here was most certainly as close as they would get to one. They wouldn't be exposed to war unless it was an emergency, or until the school decided that their squad here was ready for it. She did the salute, copying flawlessly what Lise did, and Emma did it as well, and L made his big impassioned speech that made Irina wonder if he, too, had a side of this story worth listening to. If L wasn't evil and Jace wasn't, then didn't that mean both sides fighting each other, both misunderstanding the other, couldn't that be considered a rapidly spiraling tragedy? But was it really possible to bring Jace and L together, with all the bad blood on either side?
The Opening Ceremony was over then and Group B - to be more precise, Group B graduated and passed on the name of Group B to the new set of students, some who would drop out, others who would end up injured and be unable to continue, at least two deserting and joining the Rebels, and anyone left would graduate. Regardless of any futures, it was now time to eat some grub. "It's not that interesting, it's the same every year." Lise grinned, choosing a seat for the three of them - it seemed she didn't really have any friends, everyone she trained with already moved ahead to be real soldiers and she was left here until L could convince the Senate to let her fight on a mission. "Let's eat, let's eat, we're family, after all!"
Maybe Irina was just projecting, but didn't it seem like Lise was desperate for company, that she would completely out of place without them? But Miiko, was she really the type to be able to befriend any of the Republic, especially a member of the Elite Four? "Don't be afraid to eat, okay?" Irina offered advice to Emma just in case she needed it. "We'll need the protein if we want to stay strong once the harsh training begins. It'll be tough, but we survived the bomb, we can definitely do it." They survived Aurum, they survived rescuing Stella, there was no way a school would be able to break them!
