Irina felt pale and sick, she never wanted to see this place again, she never wanted anything to do with this place, not after spending a month in there with no rest or relief throughout. If she even tried to speak she would have ended up puking her guts out, the whitette couldn't handle it. Luckily Sam knew what to do and took the ring of the one winged eagle, and that familiar face appeared, first almost a shimmering existence, but finally able to materialize in the real world. Irina saw her a few times while on the field, but they were never particularly close. "Eliza King." Aria said quietly, from her voice she sounded as if she wanted to throw up. "B-best friend sister little." This girl was from Japan, kidnapped by America. The method that worked to turn Prisca into a light bearer, they used it on everyone that came after her.
Miiko produced a jacket to cover her, unlike most Spirits who were able to introduce themselves right off the bat, this Eliza girl didn't seem to be able to at all. "Th-the ugliest... side of America." Irina mumbled queasily, almost clinging onto Emma for support to walk. She had a feeling Miiko was going to get curious about those events. "Cl-clothes aren't part of our soul, you know." A summoner only contained the soul and the Goddess's light, it had nothing to do with clothes or possessions. Eventually they made it back to the boat and they let the boat go out to the open ocean, out of sight before stopping the engine to let them rest. Aria, Prisca, and Miiko went to another room as Eliza began to stir awake, and this was when Miiko asked the question.
"During the Third World War, Japan had the light bearers, no other country had as much as Japan did." It was time to start the explanation, with as much as she knew. Aria was listening, eyes perking up because she knew what was being discussed now. "Because Yui existed, Japan's people were exposed to more light than anyone else... so more natural light bearers were born because of it." Did Miiko understand what that meant in the big picture? "...So that meant Japan had a massive fighting advantage. America had to get creative if they wanted to even the playing field." Aria frowned, remembering the memories with pain in her eyes.
"America took Yui." The wind mage growled, fingers tight around the handle of the hot cocoa mug. "Hurt her. Cut her. Took her light." Prisca nodded gravely, looking away. "...Because they cut off her limbs over and over, even after Yui escaped, America had enough samples to start running experiments." Awful, horrible experiments, to find any way to make the body accept forceful bursts of light. For someone who was never meant to become a light bearer, this process was hell. "Then, with me, they found a method that worked, and started kidnapping more people to get more artificial light bearers. Eliza was one of them." There were dozens, but for every one success, there were a hundred more who were burnt alive in the facilities because their bodies couldn't contain the light.
