She only took a deep breath, her white-knuckled grip on the cup she was holding releasing slowly after a few moments. Her expression flickered from scared and anxious to frustration and thought.

"No. I want to face him again. I want to beat him. I learned from my mistakes and my shields and my skills with a bow and arrow are better than most men would like to admit to themselves. I, in fact, lasted a few hours fighting that horrible being. He is abusing magic and hurting people, innocent people. I personally will NOT allow that." As she spoke, her voice regained its confidence and firmness.

She looked positively livid by the time she finished, even if her voice didn't betray it, her expression and her eyes did. Amaris stood and placed the cup on the desk in front of her, her eyes now glimmering gems with silver flecks swirling and gleaming in them.

"I don't care what happens to me as long as the innocent people are safe. I may not look or act the part of a heroine, but when I earned my magic, I took an oath. An oath to honor life, protect innocent souls, and save those that can be saved. If they cannot, and they are my enemies, I am bound by every fiber of my being to destroy them." Now she seemed hardened, not the soft and scared woman she had been but moments ago.
