Her eyes went wide as she saw Rafa look at her. It was a look that was serious and filled with ill intent. Feeling completely defenseless, she took a step back and started to search for a place to run to when the man whom Rafa had been carrying stirred. She watched as he jumped from the centaur's back and used the sword he had carried to slash a gash into the side of the centaur.
Blood from the creature sprayed across her face and covered her from head to toe. She stumbled backwards as the centaur cried out and then ran away.
"Are you okay?" she heard the man ask. All she could do was stand there, stunned. She felt that this must all be a dream. The overflowing toilet, the forest, the ocean and castle ruins, the bow and quiver, the centaur, and yes, even this man standing before her. If she just would open her eyes everything would be better. She would be lying in the dumpster and could get up and out to go get some breakfast.
Closing her eyes, she slowly reopened them expecting to see the lid of the dumpster. Instead, she saw the face of the man staring at her, a question in his eyes. She shook her head and looked around. She was still standing in the forest and believed she still heard a faint cry of the wounded centaur. She looked back at the man and slowly nodded her head before breaking down in tears.
"What is this? How is it that I am here? Where are we and, and who are you? she asked, her voice cracking at times as she struggled to regain her composure. She didn't wait for answer. A sudden thought gripped her with fear. What if this beast came back or sent others to come back for her and the man. Grabbing his hand, she tugged at him and said,
"We need to get out of here before that thing comes back for us. Now! Lets go!"She didn't wait for him to respond. Dropping his hand, she started to take off running in the direction they had come from. She ran as fast as she could for as long as her body would allow. Finally, fatigue took it's grip on her and sent her to her knees, gasping for air to refill her lungs with. As she tried to regain her strength, she looked up to see the ocean shore in the distance.
"If only I could get back there," she thought,
"perhaps then I could find a way out of this horrible place and get back to my cafe in Denver." She was about to stand again when she heard the sounds of the man now coming up from behind her. Fear once again gripped her as she saw him running to her with the sword in his hand. She saw what he had done with it once, and she did not wish to be the next victim. Holding up her hands to protect herself she screamed out,
"No! No! Please don't kill me!"
