Even then, the chill was so great, water drops on his hair and beard froze in place, making him almost look like a Snow Yeti from any snow capped mountains.

If he could figure out how Clara and her dreams are connected to the Winter King, he might also figure out what it is, what it wants. In comparison, something called Winter King puts a much more danger to people then Maelthra, but he had to do something about him so he could try to focus on the bigger problem.
