Madoka's breathing was shallow and controlled as he lined up his shot. The scope on his bow showed the heat signature of the raznok heard as they rested. It was night and the coldblooded creatures were barely giving off any heat. Madoka's natural night vision allowed him to lock onto the targets as well. There were only three of the raptor-like creatures, but he was on his own tonight, so he would have to be quick in taking them out.

He let loose an arrow and it sailed silently through the air right into the head of the alpha beast, killing it instantly, but waking the other two. The creatures didn't possess eyes, but used heat sensing organs in their gaping mouths. As they shrieked, they emitted a blast of heat like a form of heat sonar. Madoka was able out of the blast range and the creatures weren't able to see him. As they rotated their heads and continued their heat blasting, Madoka ran up behind them and with his short swords drawn in each hand and decapitated the two creatures. He quickly cut all the usable meat and hides off the animals before stuffing the food and hide into a lightweight sack and ran back to his base camp. He knew it wouldn't be long before other predators would catch the smell of blood, so that was why he skinned the animals away from the camp.

He returned to the delight of his clowder with enough food to last them at least three days, plenty of time to pack up camp and meet up with another clowder that roamed a different section of the jungle. Madoka was looking forward to seeing this clowder once more as they had good trading relations with them. There was more than that as well, Madoka's clowder had good trading relations with many groups throughout the Caikora Continent and that was the reason his clowder had advanced technology, but the clowder that his was meeting with was also the family to one particular Kendalli that Madoka was quite fond of.

He began to smoke the meat next to the fire and stretched the hides on a few tanning racks. He took some meat that had been smoked a few days ago and tore into it with his sharp teeth. He preferred rare meat when he could get it, but it didn't last unless it was preserved. He smiled as he thought about the upcoming meeting and trading gathering. One more day was all he had to wait now.
