The Stone in the clearing was an uncaring spectator to the little knot of confused and scared humanity surrounding it. The crystal at its top seemed to gaze at each of the people, as if to say "I have seen much, known much, and you do not impress me." This did not stop one intrepid person, who either through newfound courage or straight curiosity, touched it. As her hand made contact with the stone she would feel it grow warm to the touch. The stone began to shift underneath her hand, creating a grinding sound that permeated the clearing. A kaledioscope of colorful energies gathered at the base of the stone, and then in the blink of an eye shot up through the woman who had touched it and up towards the crystal. A riot of colors surrounded the pair, human and artifice, flesh and stone, slowly creating a tether between Madison's forehead and the crystal, slowly becoming thicker and thicker until a solid rope of energy seemed to connect the two.
The grinding sound came to a stop as the runes on the stone had finished reconfiguring themselves into a new pattern, in English of all things. A basso voice than sounded, coming from all around the clearing like some Titan of old. Derision and faint amusement intermingled in the being's voice. However that is the only thing that the Awoken could understand, for he spoke in a language of harsh grinding sounds. Well, all except for one. The first of the Awoken, the one brave enough to touch the Prophecy-Stone. When the being had begun to spoke the tether between her and the stone broke, causing a large beam of magic to fly into the sky, as a beacon. She was experiencing the mother of all headaches, yet the Being's harsh words made perfect sense to her, as dark as they were.
"Arsh gal am Tor vashrak? Bah! Sek arsh gontir Orshta! Brasaval, Sidorak, Argush! Sidor am brekah!"
"So this wretched group is what is supposed to be the heroes of the Prophecy? Bah! You will be crushed before you can even hope to comprehend your hopeless situation! Hunter, Killer, Doom Bringer! Kill these fools!"
And with these words the malevolent presence faded away. The once bright forest seemed a little darker, its peacefulness disturbed by the fell words that had just spoken in. The animals of before had scattered, and a few leaves fell from the trees. A few clouds had hidden the sun, causing shadow to fell upon those in the clearing.
