Lee's stomach tightened, but for all the wrong reasons. This was the guy who had tried his best to make Lee's life living hell for years. And yet Lee still had the biggest fucking crush on him. It was so messed up. It was beyond messed up. Because when Lee looked at Lincoln, he didn't see the bully. He saw the guy he'd drunkenly messed around with when they were both freshmen. He saw all of Lincoln's denials. And Lee found himself wondering. Wondering.
"Hi, Lincoln. Oh, look at that, my cup is empty. I'll be back in a minute," he said, brushing past the two of them. He took a deep breath as he moved towards the drinks table. Somebody handed him a beer, and he was too distracted to even think twice about it. The man standing beside him did a double take. "Hey, dude, this might sound weird. But were you friends with a guy called Neil Crowley?"
Lee felt like somebody had poured a drink down his back. This is why it had been a mistake coming here tonight. "Nope, no clue who you're talking about. Excuse me." He turned around and headed back towards Rebecca. He was too close to turn back around when he remembered Lincoln's presence, so he just forced a smile as he went back to them. "So. How have you guys been?" He asked. Even if he usually hated being drunk, it was starting to seem like an increasingly better idea the more he considered it.
