He drained the bottle of beer. Turns out Rebecca had left more than he'd expected. And had beer always tasted that weird? He shrugged it off and ran a hand through his hair. "So, uh, what are you up to these days, Lincoln?" He asked. God, small talk felt so weird in this situation. Given their history, just talking about college and stuff felt wrong. But what else could he say? "Hey Link, I've more or less forgiven you for bullying me, mostly because I actually really like you?" Lee would have to consume considerably more alcohol before that would have any chance of happening.
Over Lincoln's shoulder, he could see the guy who had asked him about Neil staring at him. He hadn't believed him. He knew. Lee turned his attention back to Lincoln, trying for force himself to make eye contact, but his eyes stopping to stare at that jaw, those lips, that face. The fingers of one hand started toying with the bottom of his jacket, as the other ran through his hair. God, did Lincoln pick up on how much he was fidgeting?
