"Thanks, Link. I know it can't have been easy." He said. "And yeah, you were a dick," he added jokingly, grinning at Link, "But we all did shit we're not proud of in high school. Stuff we left behind. Let's leave it there and move on."[/color] It gave him hope, more hope than his hopeless romantic heart could take. If this Link, the one standing in front of him, was new and improved, then maybe... maybe something could happen. It had happened once, even if that had been powered mostly by alcohol.
It was only when Lee felt Rebecca leaning against him slightly that he realised how clouded, how sluggish his thinking was. He felt drunk. And all he'd had to drink was one beer. No, half a beer. A familiar feeling of anxiety started to bubble in his stomach and chest.
"Hey, uh, guys, I just need to get a bit of air, okay? I'll be back in a minute," He said, both to Link and to Rebecca. His heart was pounding, too hard, too fast. There was no way he should be feeling like this. He stumbled a little as he walked away, which just made him worse. And again, he saw the guy that had been asking him about Neil, and Lee was sure he was going to throw up. He forced his way outside, taking a few deep breaths. Something was wrong. And now all that was whirling around in his thoughts was those parties, all the way back then, where he got so drunk that what he was doing, what was happening to him, it didn't even register. All the way back, to how he had ended up in that mess. Was Neil out of prison? Could he be? How long had he been put away for? This was wrong, this was wrong, this was all wrong.
