Max was glad to see the boots were fitting fairly well. And that Willow could walk just fine in them even with the injury. At the sound of Willow's laugh, Max paused. Intrigued by the sound. It was a pure sound; a happy sound free of sarcasm and anger. Max stared only a fraction too long, the wink Willow gave sent something shooting through her, but she managed to pull her attention away. She cleared her throat and ran her hand through her hair. What was she doing? Oh yeah: Keys.
She searched for her keys and small backpack all while contemplating her last question to herself. What was she doing? Willow was a villain. If she knew who Max was... she wouldn't be laughing in her living room. She wouldn't be winking at her. But here she stood. And she had. As Max grabbed her keys from her jacket pocket--the very last place she had checked for them--and then removed her jacket from the peg and pulled it on. She suddenly felt guilty for hiding such a secret from Willow. Then again, the woman was still a stranger and you didn't go telling your secret identity to strangers.
Max debated it a moment as she pulled on her boots. Should she tell her? Max looked over her shoulder at Willow who's gaze was down on the screen of her phone. She gave herself a little nod. Another time, she'll tell her the truth. Right now, it was too risky. If Willow freaked, she could have her friends at Max's doorstep in a few hours. Especially now that she knew where Max was working. Good one, Max... great job. She thought and turned towards Willow-- who's attention was now on Max--her skater-skirt twirling slightly around her. She tucked her hands into the pockets of her jacket and turned towards the door. "Yep. Let's go."
As they walked, Max's eyes searched the world around her for danger. It was a habit now as much as it was her duty. Especially since she hadn't done her patrol last night. Dinah's apartment was coming up which reminded Max of something. She hadn't heard from Dinah in a few days... Worry started to coil in her stomach. "Do you have the time to stop somewhere with me for a second? I want to check on a friend I haven't heard from and I'd... rather not be alone. You know how this city is." She smiled shyly at Willow, a little embarrassed to admit it to the near stranger. She was admitting a lot of things to her it seemed. The woman was a walking truth serum. Or maybe Max was just that trusting.
