”I think you put the sticky part down on the cloth,” Riven mused, attempting to figure out the instructions that Dominic was giving them. “That makes the most sense at least,” she murmured. Dominic nodded, it seemed that Riven had gotten that right. “And then the wings go underneath, there.” Viola had gotten it and now she knew how to use a pad. What a strange thing, why did humans shed blood? She wrinkled her nose at the smell, it was not the same, it smelled... like fish. She wrinkled her nose and helped Viola put her underwear on quickly so as to make the smell go away. The nurse returned with dinner for Viola and blood for Riven, the vampire took it eagerly, as she was hungry. It was clear the nurse was afraid of her, not that she was surprised.
Riven poked her teeth into the bag, slurping the blood out of it. No doubt if she was feeling suicidal, she could try to escape now. With no silver cuffs, the only thing that could stop her was Viola. Or maybe a gun with silver bullets. “I’m gonna let you two rest now, goodnight.” Dominic waved as he left, going to get his own dinner. Krane’s head emerged from a shadow, “human anatomy is so strange.” He shook his head, pulling himself out and sitting in the wheelchair since there were no other seats. He picked up an apple off of Viola’s tray and bit into it. “I’ve never heard of this lunar cycle business.” Riven tossed the emptied blood bag into the trash. “Such fragile things,” he shook his head, as though unimpressed by their strange needs. Riven rather agreed, humans were strange.
“Krane, I have a favor to ask of you,” he nodded, rising to his feet. “I need you to retrieve Doll and Melody’s schedules for the next week,” he disappeared into a shadow quickly. Riven lay on her stomach, even like that she took up barely any room. “How are you feeling?” Riven inquired, “Really, I’ll know if you’re lying to me.” She accused, already well-aware of Viola’s habit of dancing aroud the truth. “Your wrists are getting weaker, aren’t they?” It was critical that they leave now, that they figure out how to extract the soul piece. “Viola, would you be opposed of becoming an official Seylum once we leave this place? A real one of course, not one underneath Gavyn.” If they did manage to pull this off, Riven would have to uphold her end of the bargain of course.
It was growing late, they should have been getting ready for bed now. Riven ran a hand through her messy hair, she wrapped her blanket around her body, turning her self into a vampire burrito. “So cold,” Poor circulation was at fault of course, vampires had blood circulating through their bodies, but it was much slower than a human’s. Therefore, they were prone to chills, especially in cold weather. In the castle, whenever she had gotten cold, Athena would make up the bed with a smell heater underneath the blankets. The Princess missed those simple days, when she was just a Princess and King Seylum ruled the vampires.
