The young trainer nodded and slipped the mask on over her head, putting her lips over the mouthpiece. “Let’s dive.”

Aqua nodded back and dove under, pulling her trainer with her.

Bubbles billowed out around them as they went under, immediately clearing and showing a rather deep ocean below them.

At first the girl felt an uneasiness inside but after what seemed like half a minute, Nicole could make out the seafloor starting to fade in from the blue watery abyss.

“...well...atleast we don’t have to search too far.” The girl spoke through the breathing device, the thing hissing with every breath she exhaled.

Thankfully, the device didn’t require any gases, instead relying on mechanically filtering and separating the water around the wearer into breathable air.

Nicole could stay down for hours if she wanted to...as long as there was no damage to the mouthpiece itself.

“Let’s be careful, Aqua. We’ve never been this far out and we don’t know how powerful the wild Pokémon are down here.”

Aqua gave an affirmative nod to her trainer as the two continued down, finally reaching the reef after a minute of swimming.

Nicole let go of Aqua and began looking around for any samples to analyze, softly kicking her legs so as not to disturb or damage the coral.

Aqua then spotted something and darted over to a patch of seaweed, pulling out a Corsola branch. “Por Por, Napor!”

Nicole smiled. “Nice work!” she praised the water type, receiving the branch and pulling an empty test tube off her work belt before placing the sample inside and placing it back on. “See if you can find any more but stay close.”

The Vaporeon nodded and swam around, looking for anything else that might be useful to her trainer.

“Found one,” the girl said, picking up a small piece of dead sponge and doing the same as she did with the branch.

A small series of shadows shifted in the recess, causing Nicole’s heart to skip a beat. “Huh?!” she turned around to the surface fast before seeing it was just a school of wild Luvdisc.

Aqua darted over, thinking something had attacked. “Napor!! Por Poreon?!”

Nicole sweatdropped, “It’s ok, Aqua. I just got a little jumpy is all.” she reassured before turning back around.
