He looked back to the others, then to Azure as she continued to speak. "You seem to know an awful lot about the situation for a stranger. Clearly the offworlders aren't as apathetic about this place as they seem to project." He rapped against the firm top of the wooden desk a moment as he turned back to Syra, a final sniffle ushering the end of his outburst as his mind tried to turn its gears back to the matters at hand. "I feel I can trust you Syra. So tell me yourself then, should any of us trust this woman?" He nudged his head in the direction of Azure.
In the early hours of the morning, sunlight begins to gently pool across a balcony and into one of the msot luxurious hotel rooms the Horenor had to offer. The gentle, soft sounds of Mandauian operatic performance lilted through the air, emanating from a small gramophone sat next to a fine, dark oak desk with a granite top. At the desk, Maximilian was seated, carefully sipping at some tea as his soft gaze pierced some of the papers sat in front of him. Maps showed planets on the outer rims of the galaxy, with curved lines with arrow tips tracing back and forth between some of them. He sighed slightly as he took another sip before standing up, pacing over towards the balcony. A thought, a memory in fact, was lingering on his mind...
"You selfish, narcissistic pig! How dare you pull these stunts! Do you know how long we've all been dedicated to our movements? Decades, longer for some! You don't know a thing about liberating Phoenixes, or Oblivion, or anything that we stand for or stood for! You come in here, with your jackboot 'soldiers' as you call them, acting like you own the place! We've been here long before you, and we'll be here long after you!"
Maximilian smiled softly as he looked out at the Horenor, enjoying the very faint, early morning light as it began to slowly awaken the town. He sipped a little more at his tea. "As suppose we'll just have to wait and see... All my fine fellow chairmen and chairwomen..." Maximilian turned back to face the desk, the papers upon it engulfed in flame, quickly disappearing in the orange glow, before both vanished and left nothing but ash. His smile brightened.
"We will see..."
