|| Dear Winter || AJR ||
Winter swiped at her eyes quickly to clear them of any tears. She was going to head back to Oliver's room and wait for the other's to arrive. It was stupid, when she was the one to mention the buddy system, that she was now running away from her buddy. Winter accidentally took the wrong turn, realizing it only after that she was in the wrong part of the base. This was the Conservatory, not the Ender Family Home. She pushed the doors open, heading inside. The Conservatory had a glass ceiling, revealing the open sky. There were plants and a small fish pond, as well as a few birds that lived in there. Winter took off her mask, breathing in the air. It was empty, the perfect place for Winter to clear her thoughts. She plopped down in the grass, running her fingers through it. "Hey, why did you run away? You should've punched that boy in the mouth." Zoku stood across from her.
"No, Winter did the right thing. You can't assault your fellow vassals," Yuuki lectured, sitting down beside her. It was like having two children that constantly clung to her and quite frankly, Winter was tired of it. "Can I just have a minute of peace.... please?" She asked, scrubbing a hand across her face. "No," Zoku replied, not caring about what Winter thought. Winter hung her head in her hands, tired. "Oh, Winter, I didn't expect to see you here." Why was Dr. Lidia here? Shouldn't she be working? "I come to the Conservatory sometimes to get my mind off of things." She sat down on a bench, keeping her distance. "I should go, I'm sure you probably want some time alone." There was only one thing that Winter missed and it was time alone.
"I don't mind the company," she shook her head. Winter remained, the two of them sitting in silence for a while. When Winter had first met her, she had only seen Dr. Lidia as a stern-authority figure who did what was best for her patients. She hardly ever saw Dr. Julian anymore, not to mention Admiral Grey. "Something weighing on your mind?" Dr. Lidia broke the silence. "Just the weight of the world," Winter replied, running a hand through her hair. "Want to talk about it?" Winter wasn't sure, but maybe talking to someone who wasn't involved would be a good idea. "Two boys are fighting over me but I hate both of them. I'm the only one on the team taking getting stronger seriously, and I constantly have the threat of the Chrysanthemum looming over me."
"What's wrong with two boys fighting over you?" She replied, seemingly amused. "They both didn't give a crap about me before. One of them voted to allow Doc to cut me up." She winced at the memory. "The other kept threatening to beat me up until I beat him up." Winter huffed, hiding her face in her legs again. "Maybe you should forgive them? Not for their sake, but for your own. It sounds like you have a lot on your mind and forgiving them could allow you to move on, at least a little bit." Winter shook her head, of course she didn't expect anyone else to understand. Lidia's phone went off, she sighed, rising from her seat. "I have to leave now, but try not to let those two get to you. They're probably just mistaking admiration for affection."
