The moment Alexander heard his name, Cedar's name. His heart stopped, His gaze drifted down as if he'd be able to see the name on his forearm through his sleeve. Cedar Peverell. His soulmate was a Gryffindor and hated him. Perfect.
These years were going to go fantastically horrible.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alex didn't mean to follow him. Okay well, following someone into a quiet portion of the library may have been following technically but Alex didn't even know why he needed to be so close to the lion. It was an itching urge to be close to the boy, he didn't have to talk just be close to him, watch him, be around him. However, he phrased it the answer was always the same.
Eventually, it became apparent that Cedar at least didn't find the need to avoid them. What was a purpose encounter a few times became silent companionship. It was awkward at first, but as Alex slowly learnt the ways of the magical world he started to understand where he'd gone wrong. So slowly but surely he and the boy who's name was on his wrist spent more and more time alone in silence. Enjoying the company in their solitude.
It was one of these days when Alex did the worst thing in their silent agreement. He spoke.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Alex was stupid. Well, he wasn't but still how could something so simple make him so confused. It was the first week and he already was behind on such a simple subject as herbology? Pushing past a handful of first years with a forced snear he headed over to his usual corner to find Cedar already there. A silent nod of acknowledgement was exchanged but Alex couldn't force his face to be his usual mask. His hair was dishevelled and his books fell to the table in a heap followed by Cedars head hitting the desk. "God kill me now because my mother is going to do it for you."
