|| Dear Winter || AJR ||
Elise conitnued to say it wasn't her fault, but Winter would never not blame herself for Elise's death. She had considered it, saying no to Elise, that she should just go by herself. So why had she changed her mind? Loneliness? Wanting to bond with Elise? In the end, it didn't matter. There was no way to change the past. Winter had done everything she could to keep Elise alive and in the end, none of it had mattered. Elise placed a hand over her own, her hands cold. It was a reminder that while Elise was here, she could never complete what she had set out to do. Now, it was up to Claude. Winter turned away as Elise began to give Claude a speech of her own, wanting him to continue the family line. Ezra emerged from the kitchen with chocolate cake, it was time for dessert.
"I think it smells great," it was surprising to hear Elise make a joke, as she was almost uptight or overly polite. Still, Winter tried to hide her smirk behind her hand. Suddenly Oliver brought Zed up and Winter blinked in surprise. She supposed, to them, he was mysterious, wasn't he? "Well, Serenity and Ezra have met him before." She pointed out, Ezra combatting that with if he had ever eaten s'mores with her by the river. "Of course he has," she replied indignantly, crossing her arms as he served her a slice of cake. She was full, but there was always room for dessert. "Of course we look the same," Winter said as she took a bite. "You stop aging the moment you become an Heir," and Elise was dead, so she would always appear to be the age she died at.
Winter couldn't die of old age, the only way for an Heir to die was if they were killed. "Anyhow, I'd love for you all to meet Zed!" Winter clapped her hands together, now was probably the best time to ask them all. She rose, hoping that they were listening. "I want you all to be at my wedding," she turned to Mercedes, "Yes, even you." Mercedes crossed her arms and looked at her cake. "How will we get there?" Carter pointed out, "Well, with the portal generator, you guys can all come. You'd probably land outside of Olympia, so I'll be waiting there to take you all inside. You'll have to come the day before, of course, since I can't really do that the morning of, or Iris will kill me." Since they would be invited inside by an Olympian, it would be fine for them all to be there.
"I'd really love it if you all could be there." She sat back down, hoping that they would attend. "I'll have to check my work schedule," Oliver started, "but I think I have plenty of vacation days I can cash in." Carter nodded in agreement, face full of chocolate cake. "I'll call my manager, make sure I have nothing booked for those days." Serenity grabbed Winter's arm, "Of course we're coming! Right Ez? I call being your bridesmaid!" She giggled, "Elise is the maid of honor already," Serenity nodded, approving of the choice. She gave Elise a thumb's up, Winter laughing. "Are you guys going to have it in that garden?" Siri asked, her hands clasped around Winter's. She had left right before the planning had started and wanted to know every detail.
"No, Zed doesn't want people to walk all over the grass, so we're using a different venue. Besides, there will be too many guests to have it there." Serenity seemed satisfied with this answer, "What does your dress look like?" Winter smiled secretively. "There are two, one for the ceremony and one for the dinner." Serenity squealed, "ah! I love that! I bet you're going to have the fanciest wedding ever." Winter shook her head, "I didn't want it to be too big, but Zed has a really big family and Zeus is the head of Olympia, so it's going to be bigger than I thought... but we're incorporating human and Heir traditions into it." For example, there would be a ring exchange, but they would also have their right hands tied together to exchange goblets to drink from.
