Edward carefully observed the girl's expressions as he pretend to flirt with her. Not once did her face show any sign of embarrassment or surprise. As a matter of fact, her face was blank, eyes half open, like she had just opened up. The elf knew he had good looks, any regular person that had interest in him would have fallen over at those words, or at least given some sort of emotional reaction. The reaction this red-head gave showed she was not adjusted to social norms of the human world. So she must have not grown up with humans.
Furthermore, if a human was to receive a name, they would give one back, and clearly this girl didn't, which meant that his point was right or that she was hiding something from him. However, he doubted that she was hiding her feeling from him, as she did give some sort of reaction, a moment where she released his hands, which indicated hesitation to him. It was more likely that this "girl" didn't know how to respond to such statements.
This conjecture was further supported by the fact that the girl gripped his hand tighter moments before responding, as if she was using all her brain power to come up with a response before deciding to focus back on to her hands-on ways. The way she responded back to him was also to note. She kept using the word "must" as if she wouldn't live without meeting humans or hearing his answer on a trivial question. From that he could gather, that these two concepts were very important for her. Why must she meet humans? He thought to himself.
If his theory about this girl was right, it must mean that whatever creature was inside the human wanted to spread itself throughout. Perhaps humans were its main feeding targets. He looked over at the girl's forearm as she pressed it against his chest. Outwardly, the elf maintained a calm expression, but he was pretty angry that this creature was going to ruin his clothes. The girl stepped close to him, positioning herself, so that if he were to back even a little bit, she would fall on top of him. He looked back into her eyes and smiled.
"You'll have to try better than that." He said to her demand for an answer for his ideal type.
Edward leaned forward bringing himself very close to the girl's face, as he wrapped his hand that wasn't holding the girl's around the girl's sender back. He could smell her sweet perfume, but the elf wasn't phased by her. In one motion he pulled her in, causing her chest to get close to his; the only thing keeping them from touching was her arm that she had on him. For a fraction of a second, their face was only separated by air that was as thin as paper. Using the momentum of the girl coming into him, Edward spun around, shifting the weight so that he was, now falling on her. Then, he stopped his momentum, catching the girl in his arms as a dancer would catch his partner to strike a final pose.
Then he brought her back up to stand straight creating great distance between them. Clearly, touch meant a lot to this creature. The only parts that were touching were the girl's and Edward's hand which the creature refused to let go. Such a persistent creature. He thought.
