Reese was looking under a rock when the screams came. She dropped the rock and tilted her head with a huff, rolling her eyes to the sky and watching the birds fly away. The magical forest had almost made her feel serenity. She knew that kind of scream, the angry tremor to it and what it meant. Lucie had the lung capacity of a toddler who was never told to shut up. Then grew up.
Freddie was quite a bit more perturbed by the cries than Reese. "Calm down, she's not in danger, she's just - inconvenienced," Reese began, but Freddie was already sprinting away... Reese's brow furrowed at the sight of Freddie going somewhere in a hurry, and for what she'd just processed... "Luce?" She repeated incredulously to herself, left in Freddie's dust. The nickname stung her tongue. She hadn't forgotten Freddie's actions when they stepped through the portal together. She shook the intruding thoughts away and ran after her.
Reese ducked under all the branches Freddie kept flinging back at her. She slowed down along the way, not too happy about where they were headed, but kept the girl in her sights. She saw her come to a stop outside of the thicket and jogged over. "Jesus, Fred. What was it, a bug in her louis vuittons-"
She froze.
Much... much unlike the unperturbed Freddie, Reese turned into stone the moment she laid her eyes on the scene in the river. Red coloured her face like wine being poured into a glass, starting at her neck, and filling her entire head. "A-a- Sorry!" She turned away in two seconds flat and DOVE behind a bush. One could almost see a cloud of steam FWOOSH up from her hiding place.
Reese's eyes had turned to swirls. Idiot! Idiot, idiot, idiot! What WAS that?! She internally screamed, Why did you react like that? What's wrong with you?! You're girls, get back out there and just be cool with it! They're going to know! She frowned at her internal voice. Of course they'd already know, idiot.
"Di- uh, have you GUYS SEEN SILVIA?!" She shouted from behind the bush - distracting herself. The tiny Silvia in Kinera's hands had definitely not been the first place her eyes had gone. "SHE'S KINDA HARD TO SPOT RIGHT NOW BUT yeah."
