Jai happily joined Ryder in a drink, lifting the goblet in a toast with him. He took an elegant sip, watching Ryder with an impressed look as the advisor sculled the whole glass. If felt nice to be back here, toasting to a time when he would sneak bottles from Ivelda's cellars in the dead of night into their quarters and share them with whoever wouldn't go squealing to the Queen the next morning. Back when they weren't all separated by the different paths their servitude led them.
His devilish eyes turned wide at Ryder's chastising. "I know she's a person," he retorted with an offended gasp. His glass tilted with his head, and his smirk returned, accompanied by a shrug. "... And I know she's fragile. That's why I like her..." His train of thought switched track and he squinted over at Ryder in suspicion. "Don't you get all gushy about my emotions. If I really wanted to be loved, I'd make like you and get a dog."
He smirked over at the lycan siblings and flicked Edith another candy for the joke at their expense. Then he sighed and settled back onto the couch.
"You just don't get it," he breathed, watching the wine swirl around the glass and leave pale stains. "You haven't had someone lose sleep over the memory of you." He laughed as he took another sip. "Ha, or you'd be oblivious."
He set his empty glass down and swung his feet over, sitting up on the couch. "It's worth the risk of being bitten. Karma hasn't caught me yet! Anyway, you want to lecture ME about my relations? Does this 'person' status only apply to pretty girls?" His eyelashes batted innocently as he poured himself another glass. "Korgan is a living, breathing.. pig.. man! And Benedicto has thoughts, and emotions, a soul... you've got to be more sensitive! .. To the fragility of the human ego."
He folded his leg as he leaned back, eyes shut and smiling smugly at his own wit. When he reopened his eyes, his brow was furrowed in concern. "Seriously, the guys all hate your guts. Are you fine with that? Wait, don't answer. "A lion doesn't concern himself with the opinion of sheep", is that right?" He raised a brow, expecting something similarly supercilious.
