Lucis went through yet another song. So far so good. He kept driving down the highway, having no idea where the hell he was going.

Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all...

His voice trailed off as he saw a figure in the distance. A person. He slowed down the car and saw that it was a girl. A zombie? She had blood splattered all over her face and clothes. She stood calmly at the edge of the highway, holding a shotgun in her hands.
Ah heck. Lucis stopped the car and rolled down the window. "Hey," he said. He glanced up at her, and something hit him. She looked familiar...
He kept his foot on the gas, just in case she suddenly leapt at him or something.
Then she did something that only humans do. She held out a fist and lifted her thumb.
Lucis cracked a grin. "Hop in."
The girl smiled and walked around the car. She climbed into the passenger seat next to him.
In no time, the van was zooming down the highway again. Lucis drummed his fingers on the steering wheel, then said, "So where're you heading?"
"San Francisco, California," the girl answered.
"California? Geez. That's all across the country." Lucis turned to her, and the girl's eyes bore into his.
"Lucis," she said, expressionless.
Lucis blinked. "How do you know my n..." Then it hit him. This was that cute blonde girl that he shared a hall with. Their lockers were right next to each others. "Oh.." Lucis droned on. "You used to go to Athen's High School, right?"
"Yep. Remember me?" She wiped the blood off her face with the sleeve of her jacket.
"Sorry, I don't really know your name..."
"Jade."
"Well, it's great to see you, Jade..."
"Great to see you too, Luke."
Then she smiled. Lucis smiled back and turned back to the road. "Let's just head to the nearest town and we'll think of what to do."
