UNITED EARTH CENTRAL DEMOCRACY
The United Earth Central Democracy is the larger of the two Human-based factions, controlling 19 of the 25 Human-controlled territories (pre-war). It is democratic with a massive government, and is akin to the early 20th Century republics of Portugal, Spain, and Mexico. It is strictly secular and nihilistic. The UECD is not, however, the 19 worlds themselves; it is, in fact, the central government of the 19 worlds, serving as the binder that binds them together in their cause and in their need. Instead, each of the 19 worlds have a limited form of sovereignty.

The Democracy values individualism more than anything else, but when it comes to the economy, the government has a tight control over the people, imposing massive taxation on the people. Many things in the Democracy are legal, including psychedelic drugs, child pornography, pedophilia, and incest, much to the discontent of those that do not wish to partake in them.

The Democracy is ruled by President Sans, who is an ardent communist. It was he who completely replaced the socialist economy with a communist one, but realised in the process that he needed to keep the people occupied lest there would be a counterrevolution. However, not all citizens of the Democracy are completely blind to the process at which the government works, especially those who were descended from capitalists lucky enough to not be found during the Sansist Great Purge of 2889, when all of the supposed bourgeois pigs were rounded up and executed.

It was also under the Sans presidency when Mankind was finally nominated for the 11th spot on the Orion Confederation after numerous treaties that surrendered at least two Human planets to the Confederation.

THE EMPIRE OF MAN
The Empire of Man is a massive economic and military powerhouse ruled by a powerful Parliament that ruled with an iron rod, controlling 6 of the 25 Human colonies, with an additional 10 colonies conquered and terraformed. Based on Chorus, all of the Human residents there long to return to their homeland of Earth.

Unlike the Democracy, Parliament has direct control over all of the other planets it has under its rule. It has tight control over the citizens, and the moralistic virtues they instil upon the youth create strong, cynical men who see absolute freedom as cancerous, and see authoritarian leadership as the true liberator, for it liberates the individual from the destructiveness of perverted democracy. It values collectivism more than anything else, but still believes in a corporatist economy.

The Empire is ruled by the Prime Consul, Hindenburg, who rules with an iron rod. He is descended from a noble family of military officers, and is a military and economic genius. There are small revolutionary pockets within Chorus, of course, mainly made up of small partisan groups organised by a foreign influence.

The Parliament is very small, made up of only 250 people, ten of which are representatives of the Civis, or the general population. However, the higher governing body, even higher than the Parliament, is the Electorate College, made up of 92 men, 16 of whom are the Viceroys, ruling over the 16 Imperial colonies. The highest position is the Primary Consul, and before him, the Secondary Consul. Both have a twelve-year term, with a possibility for a second term, but not a third.

The Empire also ardently hates aliens, and seeks to unify Mankind under its leadership, for it believes that Mankind will become the Almighty Father's representatives as conquering heroes.

ORION CONFEDERATION
The Orion Confederation is a mysterious organisation spanning the entire Galaxy, and established on the Orion Arm of the Galaxy. It is ruled by a council of 905, with a hundred representatives from nine of the ten races in the Confederation. The tenth race, unfortunately, consists only of five individuals, the last survivors of the purge that nearly wiped out their race. Instead, they grew to prominence. They are now known only as the Ruling Five, who are practically immortal thanks to the new technologies they were offered. However, at the very top of the chain of the Ruling Five is Lord Oervik, the Lord of Fire, who rules with supreme authority over the council.
