So. This thread will be a compilation of somewhat random questions and answers relating to the RP. I'll just keep editing this first post, a'cuz.
Q: Is there any stigma associated with two characters of the same Bloodline having a relationship? What about two characters of different Bloodlines?
A: None whatsoever. The Bloodlines were created so long ago that there's really no reason for stigma. For that particular purpose, they might as well be normal humans.
Q: Do Balaren end up naked when they shapeshift?
A: No they do not. Clothing and small personal items (in pockets, etc.) will shift with the Balaren, disappearing in non-human forms and then reappearing when they become human again. Large items will not, however.
Q: Can Balaren speak or communicate while in their wolf or hybrid forms?
A: Wolf-form Balaren have only the communication skills available to wolves. They can perform human gestures like nodding, but cannot speak (or telepathically communicate, or what not). They can communicate very well with other wolf-form Balaren, though, using body language, chuffs, barks, and howls. The hybrid form can get out a few words of guttural human speech at a time.
Q: So uhh... this RP takes place on a magical island cut off from the rest of the world. Where does food and stuff come from?
A: The Guardians make at least monthly trips out for the sake of provisions, and Fleet occasionally will head off to get some particularly necessary item that he can carry in flight. Charges can make requests for specifics, though such vanities are usually only attended to if it's possible.
Q: How do the Guardians feel about things like drugs, alcohol, romance, etc.?
A: The Guardians treat the charges like adults, for the most part. They don't mind if the kids cut loose a bit, provided that they aren't destroying the grounds or too worn out to be useful the next day. They really aren't interested in the charges love lives (well, Michaela is, in some instances, and Simon is always available for advice in such matters), and given that hallucionogens and orgies have been part of magical ceremonies for thousands of years, there really aren't taboos attached to such things.
Q: Can I leave the Isle? Like, to go visit my family?
A: The Isle is extremely remote. The logistics involved in leaving and returning are difficult enough that such leaves are extremely rare. Michaela is the final word when it comes to getting off the Isle.
Q: How much stuff would my character have with them from home?
A: Charges are allowed to bring three suitcases with them when coming to the Isle. They are checked, if only to ensure that there is no silver or iron among the belongings. Nothing else will be denied (save for corner cases determined by GM fiat). The Compound does have a store of not-terribly-fashionable clothing that charges can draw from if they wind up needing replacements, and there are plenty of clean socks.
Q: Can my character write letters, at least?
A: Yes. Post is collected before every major supply run, and mail will be picked up for those charges who have anyone to write to them.
Q: How long do charges usually stay on The Isle?
A: It varies from person to person. Usually, it's at least a year. Charges are generally brought up to at least moderate skill with their Gifts before being sent back out into the world. Sometimes it's longer, very rarely it's shorter. Ultimately, it's up to the Guardians to decide. Charges who have been on The Isle for the past year have not received nearly as strenuous instruction as is the norm, so most of them still have quite a bit of room for development.
