Welcome to your new virtual life. The catch is, you can't log out and if your hp drops to zero... well, you won't be returning to the Real World.

This thread is dedicated to the six major geographical locations in the virtual reality that is LAIOS. Will include the basic monster and land descriptions of each.

VALLEYS
Monster Description: Levels vary from Weaker to Low Intermediate. No bosses. Most monsters in valleys do not have affinities or weakness. They are fairly average. Though, the select few based in lakes and rivers have a slight affinity for water. When defeated they give at maximum 200 experience and 190 gald, with the more common items.
Landscape Description:Very flat, vast areas of land. Make up the majority of the virtual world’s landscape. All players must travel through valleys before reaching any other sort of geography. Valleys lead to towns, into the forests, and mountains, and et cetera. Valleys are generally considered to contain the weakest of monsters. Residing in the taller grass, lakes, and rivers that make up the geography. The open area does not house many notable natural resources, and players are consistently visible.

SWAMPS
Monster Description: Levels consist of only Intermediates, from low to high. The monsters tend to dwell in the murkiest of depths and are known for surprise attacks, pulling players into their watery graves. If lured onto land, their speed drops drastically. The have resistances towards earth and water. Many have large builds that make their physical defense noteworthy
Landscape Description:Swamps make up the smallest percentage of the landscape in Laios. They are found only in the deepest and dankest parts of forests.
Swamps have low visibility and the air is putrid. Often considered one of the most difficult places to battle. The ground is muddy and prone to sinking players feet with every step. Its scenery is deceiving. The water is murky and algae filled. Places that appear to be semi-solid ground could in actuality be twenty feet of water you are about to fall into. This zone is also home to a variety of poisonous plants that can be harvested. The monsters here also like to poison victims and their venom can be acquired if your healing and seek skills are high enough.

TUNDRA
Monster Descriptions:Most enemies in the tundra are considerably larger than players with thick coats of fur. Many are powerhouses and their fur makes it difficult to land decent attacks. It is best to rely on magical arts when battling them. They are especially prone to fire. They are only fast in short bursts. They rage from intermediate to difficult levels.
Landscape Description:A considerably large biome, but one that is especially localized. Located in the northernmost area of LAIOS. It is almost completely devoid of people as it is a severely hostile environment. Temperatures only rise to about 50 degrees Fahrenheit in the warmest of months. Most of the year, snow buries the earth and sudden blizzards sweep through weekly.
Players tend to steer clear because items and treasure are very rare. The only way to collect them is by defeating the scattered monsters. These areas do contain higher level materials for crafting armor which lures players to visit even with its perils.

TROPICAL
Monster Description:On the beach the majority range from very weak to medium intermediate, it is also home to the weakest boss. All beach monsters have an affinity towards water. Some emerge from pits in the sand, but most rise from the ocean.
In the jungle monsters range majorly in intermediate levels and have a wide range of affinities and strengths. They are literally everywhere. Jungles have the largest percentage of monster to area ratio.
Landscape Description:Located near the southern edges of LAIOS’ borders. The climate has a constant temperature of 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It not only consists of beaches, but jungles.
Beaches are the smallest part of the tropical landscape. Open stretches of sandy land miles at a time. Jungles are usually somewhat larger than forests, but not as widespread. They lead onto the beach. Jungles are excessively thick with vegetation and as a result, are dim and humid. They have the most diverse monster population.

FOREST
Monster Descriptions:Enemies in the forests of LAIOS have the most extensive range of levels. The forest monsters have the highest average speed, but definitely weakest to magical artes. The stronger of the monster population are mainly nocturnal, so players must beware when deciding to camp out. Forests also have the largest number of rare/event monsters.
Landscape Description:Forest are the second largest biome. They have cooler temperatures all year round. Thick, but not as thick as jungles. Monsters hide in every tree, and every bush. It is almost funny that there are no naturally occurring enemies in the running streams, but they are almost always crawling with beasts still. Forests have the most items and treasure just lying about.

DESERT
Monster Description:Desert monsters have the weakest physical defenses but highest magical resistance. The majority are in the intermediate level range with affinities towards fire, earth, and air. They have the best stealth of any monsters hiding in plain sight and right beneath players feet. The desert monsters have the most species that utilize venom. Their specialty is striking suddenly, then retreating until their prey falls. They range from intermediate to difficult.
Landscape Description:Deserts are very inhospitable environments if you do not know what you are doing. It is a vast expanse of sandy dunes that shift with the wind, wind storms are a common occurrence. During the day temperatures can rise all the way into the 100s, but fall drastically at night.
There are very few cities in the deserts and most of them are created around the ever rare oases, with one known one being built into the side of a steep cliff.

Mountains
Monster Description: Mountains contain difficult monster levels and you need to come prepared. Some mountains have temples where mage type monsters await. They are impervious to magical attacks and need to be fought up close and personal but getting to them will be a challenge in itself. If not occupied by magic wielders, be wary of the dragons that inhabit the mountains. Dragons are extremely difficult to kill as well since they do not land often so it is harder to land blows. Magic and archery skills are best suited in combating these creatures.
Landscape Description:Mountains are inhospitable as these areas are extremely cold and prone to blizzards. They are an extension to tundras but their rocky surfaces and carvings are exquisite to behold. There are many ruins at the base of the mountains as well as on its peeks to hint at an ancient civilization long ago but only creatures live here. All mountains have a path that lead up towards the boss level monsters where the treasure and materials will be found. Because of the difficulty level, only high level equipment and rare items are found in these locations, should you be able to defeat the bosses.

Dungeons
Monster Description: The monsters in caves vary. Each cave takes its element from the field surrounding it so element, magic, and physical weaknesses reflect those above ground. There are generally 5 levels to a dungeon with each level having stronger and stronger monsters. At the depths, the monsters generally have a darkness element. The last room will always have a large monster known as the Boss and will be more difficult than any other creature. Be wary, some boss can call upon other monsters to come and aid it. Once the boss has been defeated, it will open up a special room known as the Horde where rare and upper level items can be found. Dungeons are also good place to find some materials for weapons and armor as well as potions.
Landscape Description: No two dungeons will look the same. Some will have similar monsters but the background will be different; a feature Seraph put in to keep everyone engaged. Each dungeon in a field also has a different appearance for its opening so you have to be on the look out to find them. They are great places for leveling and getting weapons and armors.
