The Elves of Serenia
General Appearance
Average Height for Men: 5’10” – 6’8”
Average Height for Women: 5’4” – 5’11”
The elves of Serenia are a vibrant, varied strain of the Elven species. No two individuals are alike, save for the rare (and very cherished) occurrences of identical twins. Their eyes are every point of the spectrum, in varying shades. Their hair colors spread across all the natural colors available to the humanoid races; from black to white-blond, everywhere in between, although fiery red such as seen in the Queen of Serenia is a much rarer color of hair. Straight as a pin, curly as a spring, yet always luxurious to the touch, their hair is as lively as the individuals it clings to.
Builds and facial features, while showing variances, still contain the stereotypical slender, lithe frames, angular, refined features, and tall builds. They are enchantingly graceful, comfortable in light and darkness, eyes large and slanted, though, again, there are many variances of shape.
Clothing tends to be earthen in color; silks, wool, cotton, leather and doeskin all finding their ways to be used. Nobility tends to have vibrant colors of robes, tunics, gowns and cloaks, often worn for parties and festivals. Accessories tend to include any and every precious metals and gems, ornate circlets of woven metals and gems often decorating a lady’s head at festive occasions.
General Attitude
Serenian elves are a generous, happy lot. Willing to open their homes to a footsore stranger, they value their connection with the land, and with their Queen. Serenia is a society that enjoys peace greatly, happy to go about their lives farming, tending the land, and attending the festivals of each season. Hard working, diligent and attentive, their crops and orchards yield bountiful produce, and they pride themselves for the good care of their beasts, never demanding of an animal more than it can give.
Song and laughter, dancing and jokes are commonplace, and while it was a surprise to have the Queen insist on joining them in the kitchens at the castle, hard a merry, hardworking nature is evident in nearly every individual.
The Serenians, like many strains of the Elven race, love to learn; their voracious attraction for knowledge means there are very few uneducated people in the kingdom. Many languages are taught, beyond Common and Serenian, and a healthy respect for your elders and one another is drilled into a child from the moment he or she can understand.
They love peace, but that is not to say that they will not fight a war. Serenians train as diligently and intensely as they care for the land. They train hard, so that when war comes, they will be better able to crush the offenders and return the land to peace once more.
Purity of blood is valued, but children of duel lineage are never shunned. This strain of elves cherishes children beyond all other loves aside from their wife or husband, and the thought that a child could go unloved and cared for is not something you want to bring to attention to any Serenian, man or woman.
To be continued.
The Thunder you hear in a storm is the sound of a great stallion's hooves hitting the tops of the clouds. Listen closely, you can hear the hoof beats as he leaps and dances through the sky.
