Adrien's appearance is very unique towards anyone that is meeting him for the first time. But if you've known him for a little while then whatever he decides to do to his body and wear upon his body shouldn't be to any shock to you. AJ likes to keep his frame very slender as he has an athletic, toned out body. He stands about six foot two inches tall with a weight of one hundred and eighty one pounds. Yes, he has a little bit of muscle but he is also a little bit scrawny, as well. AJ's hair takes on a deep brown complexion in most light but in other amounts of lighting, his hair can appear to be almost black. He likes to keep his hair curled up like a little Afro, as well. Since he is mixed with African American and Hispanic, his skin complexion takes up a light skinned approach and his eyes are a pure hazelnut color. Adrien has an array of tattoos, one giant tattoo that is located on his right arm and it's nothing more than a bunch of roses. He also has a tattoo behind his left ear that is of a four leaf clover. AJ has a very casual style of dress, as well. He likes to wear t-shirts and baggy pants or cargo shorts along with a pair of Chuck Taylor's, which is about the only pairs of shoes he owns. Adrien also has an assortment of hats and bandanas that he’ll sometimes wear, too.

_______

STRENGTHSXX
XXβž₯ Observant : Adrien has eyes and ears like a hawk. He seems to be able to notice the smallest details about something or someone making his sleuthing ability quite exceptional.
XXβž₯ Independent : As a result of being the sole caregiver of his siblings, this has resulted in Adrien being almost tragically self-sufficient. He knows how to pick his battles, and how to manage when fate deals you a bad hand.
XXβž₯ Intuitive : The mind of a sleuth, Adrian is a naturally intuitive person. His gut feelings normally end up leading him in the right direction, and his ability to infer is exceptional.

WEAKNESSES
XX βž₯ Distant : AJ has a strong tendency to pull away from the people he loves when he needs it the most, because he hates the idea of feeling like a burden.
XX βž₯ Opportunistic : Guilty of sticking his nose where it's not always wanted, AJ tends to prefer being involved in a variety of situations. While it's true that he lacks ill intentions, often times attempting to help, rather than harm, his somewhat intrusive actions have left him with the label of a busybody and a meddler.
XX βž₯ Smart-Ass : It's easy for Adrien to piss people off. Charm is not something that comes easily to him. Sarcasm and snark, however, are.

FEARSXX
XXβž₯ Losing the Paper : The Astorian is his sole life and the paper getting shut down is one of his biggest fears.
XXβž₯ Needles : AJ can openly say that he doesn't know a soul who actually enjoys the feeling of getting pricked, metal sliding into the pores of one's skin for whatever purpose. Sure, he logically understands that this half a second of pain is only meant for the greater good, but that doesn't mean that he has to enjoy it.

SECRETS
XX βž₯ Anon Tip : A few weeks ago Adrien received an anonymous tip in the Astorian's mailbox that gave him an address. He hasn't investigated it out of fear.

_______

PERSONALITYXXX Adrien is a darkly humorous, borderline apathetic on a down-day, comically cynical with a quick temper and a lot of secrets. He's crafty, intelligent, gifted with the mind of a writer. His so-called "outsider" status amongst his fellow peers allows him to write about Astoria from an objective point of view. Making him all too observant, and perfect for the head writer of the paper.

One would think that Adrien's physical characteristics of being intimidatingly tall and imposing, may be an indication that Adrien is a menacing, brutish presence. However, those who choose to define AJ by this quality only reveal their lack of knowledge of this brooding young man; after all, his siblings will testify that "he's the fluffiest, gooiest marshmallow of a brother that you'll ever see ever." Though, he blames this solely on the fact that he can't scold her when she gives him the "puppy dog" eyes.

Adrien is a low-maintenance and chill person. It doesn't take much to entertain him, and he's more independent than dependent. He likes to focus on himself and making sure that he's happy and taken care of before anyone else. Though understandable (and maybe even admirable), it can definitely be construed as selfish when he's constantly prioritizing himself over friends. Part of this trait probably comes from his natural personality, but because he's had to take care of himself within the last few years, this notion that if he doesn't take care of himself, no one else will, has become even more prominent in his life than ever before.

He's passionate about few things (including films, family, and writing), but will protect them with everything he has. He refuses to give up on anyone or anything he believes in, which makes him quietly supportive amongst his peers. He loves to see his friends succeed, but from afar. Adrien is determined and not easily deterred, willing and able to overcome any obstacle in front of him. A few years prior one of his more "scandalous" articles nearly shut down the paper but he fought tooth and nail to keep it alive.

_______

HISTORYXXX Born to a single mother, Adrien has always had to take care of his family from a young age. Growing up in the poorer side of Astoria, Aj always felt a little jaded because of his predicament but never let it be an excuse. The oldest of three, he spent most of his time from school caring for his siblings while his mother was at work. It wasn't until his freshman year when he began to really get into writing. His English teacher noticed his affinity for words and suggest that he revamp the Astorian. The school newspaper that had ended a few years back because of lack of staff. At first Adrien was a little adamant, he didn't really believe he'd have time for it considering he had to care for his siblings and told Mr. Grant that he'd think about it.

He nonchalantly brought it up at the table one night and his mother was absolutely appalled that he had turned it down. She refused to let their situation inhibit her son from doing something he was interested in. A little surprised, but deep down overjoyed Adrien agreed and by his sophomore year had a small staff behind him. The paper was an instant success considering the controversy that Adrien's articles covered. Stuff that nobody in Astoria would've dared touch, in fear of being reprimanded. But Adrien believed in the truth. Now that a string of missing persons and murders has littered the town he's determined to figure out what is plaguing the town.

So begins...

"Alright! Good sweat today ladies, I'll see you all at practice tomorrow" Coach Hansen clapped her hands together in what would be considered an 'encouraging' gesture before dismissing the girls from softball practice. Dakota slung her ball bang over her shoulder, feeling particularly gross as a bead of sweat glided down her forehead. She wiped it away quickly, and followed the other girls into the locker room, the lot of them chatting about some Halloween Bash that Jasmine Reyes was throwing tonight. The thought of the last time she went to a Reyes' party flashed across her mind and her heart clenched rather painfully in her chest. Evan. Still missing. Or better yet, dead.

She sucked in a sharp breath, pinching the bridge of her nose to keep her thoughts away from her brother. Unfortunately, today the universe was well against her. She fumbled with the combination on her locker for a few moments before roughly tugging it open, a bit of undeniable frustration coming out of well. Dakota raised an eyebrow slightly as a small, folded piece of notebook paper fell out of her locker landing at her feet. Without even picking it up, a sense of dread filled every inch of her as she stared at the seemingly innocent paper. She reached down, and after what felt like ages, her hand finally brushed the notebook paper on the ground. She grabbed it, carefully unfolding it to read a scribbling of words in the middle.

"If you think it's over I've only just begun crossing off names on my list.
Hope to see you at the party tonight.
Trick or Treat Lynn?"

Her head whipped around the locker room, her eyes frantically searching for someone who didn't belong. But, it was just her teammates. Dakota's hands shook slightly as she read each word over and over again, before aggressively folding it back up and shoving it into her backpack. Who had sent it? And why? However, deep down, she already knew the answer to her question. Astoria's resident Grim Reaper, the one who had taken her brother and many others in the town. This wasn't the first time she had received a letter from the so-called killer, and she knew that this most certainly wouldn't be the last time.

Adrien's feet were propped up on his desk in the small office room that he had been given for the paper. He always found himself in the room after school hours, either typing away or going over stories with the others. Today it was particularly quiet. Printers and a couple MacBooks lined the wall, along with a few desks and chairs scattered amongst. He had found a large, mahogany desk at one of the local thrift stores for $20 and with the help of Mr. Graham lugged it into the office as his very own 'desk'. The room was dark other than the sunlight shining through a window on the far wall, and the screen light coming form his small laptop that he carried with himself everywhere. He liked it rather dark in the room, it eased his mind and helped him concentrate more on his writing. Today, however it wasn't helping much.

He held down the backspace watching the words disappear from the screen for the fourth time. Adrien had been at this article for a solid three hours and still hadn't managed to muster up a single word. He let out a small sigh of frustration and closed the laptop, the room darkening a little. The Astoria Murders seemed like candy to a baby when it came to writing, but for some reason Adrien was having the hardest time writing the latest update. Maybe it was too close to home? Or maybe it just didn't feel right.

He leaned back in the chair closing his eyes, trying to relax and put himself in the right mindset when his phone buzzed in his pocket. He would've ignored it, if it hadn't buzzed six more times in a row. He groaned slightly swinging his feet off of the desk and reached into his pocket to pull out his phone. The light of his screen was a little harsh and he had to squint to read the message.

From Markus:
Party tonight at Reyes.
Don't skip again.
Take a second to stop writing and have fun !

Adrien rolled his eyes slightly at the message, Markus was one of the newest writers on the paper, a sophomore, still finding his place in the social chain. Without replying Adrien slid the phone back into his pocket, leaning back into the chair. Astoria had been quiet for the past couple of weeks. Too quiet. He knew nothing good would come from Jasmine's party, nothing ever did. But to him, it was almost perfect. As morbid as it sounded, if something did happen, maybe he'd be able to write.

Usually, Sam couldn't have cared less about Jasmine Reyes' party. They weren't typically her scene, but tonight, something was intriguing her, something drawing her to go. Maybe it was just the drama of the last few weeks, what had happened at some of the last ones, that was engaging her sense of morbid curiosity. And besides, it was Halloween. If anything weird was going to happen tonight, it was going to be tonight. The trick-or-treaters never appreciated her costume anyway. She pulled her bags out of the locker and balanced her backpack on her knee as she dug out her phone from the bottom of the bag. Something- or, rather, someone caught her attention out of the corner of her eye. Dakota, looking a little shaken. Sam raised an eyebrow as she slammed the locker shut.

"Hey, Sam, you finally coming to a party?" One of the girls asked, half sarcastically. Having finally retrieved her phone, Sam slung the bag onto her shoulder. "Yeah. Figured it's about time I find out what all this fuss is about," she remarked, folding her arms. Brianna's eyebrows raised so high Sam thought they were about to disappear into her hairline, just for a moment before she regained her composure. "Oh, awesome, see you there!" She called. Sam rolled her eyes, glancing back over at Dakota. Sam wasn't sure that anyone else had noticed her behaviour, and she also wasn't sure whether or not she should ask. But she sighed, folded her arms tighter, and made her way over to Dakota. Dakota was nice. Wasn't put off by Sam, but not pushy either. She'd check in on Sam, so Sam figured she should reciprocate.

"Hey, Dakota. You okay?" She asked quietly as she leaned against the locker beside Dakota. She caught sight of a note and raised an eyebrow with a smirk. "Secret admirer?" She asked with a wink, taking a mouthful of water out of her bottle. Her own phone buzzed, and she glanced at the screen. A job had come up last minute. Good money too, and would give her an excuse to show up late to the party. Everything she wanted. She quickly shoved her phone into her hoodie pocket.

There was very seldom peace in Spencer's life. But out here, in the woods, just him and his camera, it was the closest he felt like he'd ever achieve. Here, he could forget about his parents, about school, about... everything. He intended on using the photos both for halloween and for the story on the murders that Adrien was running.

And like that, reality hit him all over again. Faith. He still couldn't believe she was dead. Every time he thought about it, he felt like he was going to be sick, a hollow feeling in his chest. And the disgust at himself for being just the smallest bit relieved. The fear of her tying him to this town forever had nearly driven him to his self-destructive ways, but her death had very nearly pushed him over the edge. It wasn't right to be feeling this conflicted, this... wrong.

He snapped the picture and looked at it, the tiny screen on the camera not doing it justice. With the anxiety again twisting his stomach and making his hands unsteady, he knew it wasn't worth his while trying to take any more. He'd need to touch them up, edit them a little.

He started the walk back to the school, trying and failing not to dwell on the past few weeks. He would be lying if he said he wasn't terrified. How could he know who was next? How could he know it wouldn't be him or someone he cared about? What if he tried and failed to stop it?

He was back at the school before he even realised, making his way to the office. He preferred to use the Macbooks for editing anyway, and he wanted to show Adrien the photos. He knocked gently before entering, smiling slightly at Adrien. "I got some photos out in the woods. Wanna have a look at them before I touch them up?" He asked, holding out the camera. "I'm also gonna take one of the Macs to edit them if that's okay, I'll have it back by tomorrow," he added, his stomach twisting at the irrational thought of Adrien refusing.

The musty scent of the boys' locker room went unnoticed by the multiple, young men crowded by their lockers. Football practice had been particularly brutal since coach couldn't keep the players late anymore. The damn new curfew as coach said. Shane had the same thought, not wanting to spend more time at home than necessary. Father had been on his ass so Jasmine's party offered the perfect escape.

His football buddy, Brody, kept going on about how awesome Jasmine's party will be and how lucky Shane was to be close friends with her. He was only half listening when he heard it. The whispers. They say he killed his girlfriend... I wonder if he'll come after one of us... I wonder why he did it. It took only a second for him to spin around, grab the guy and shove him against the locker. "Why don't you say that to my face, punk?" The fear on the young freshman's face satisfied him slightly. He was beyond pissed at the rumors and some freshman running his mouth is the last thing he needs. If it wasn't for the comforting hand on his shoulder, he might've gone further. He put the freshman down, but not before saying, "Maybe next time, don't talk shit about someone you think is a killer." Shane stormed off, slamming his locker.

He didn't do it. The police had no proof, at least his father said so. The video tape found of him and Scarlett arguing before she disappeared was questionable, but provided no evidence. Shane couldn't help stomping as he paced down the hallway, students parting like the sea. "Shane, dude! Slow the hell down." Brody walked by his side. "Just focus on the party, not some dumb freshman. It sucks about Scarlett, but you're tough. You'll get it through it." Tough. It's all he has ever been and he's tired. He's so damn tired. "Sure, whatever. I'm gonna go find Reyes, but I'll catch you at the party." The two friends parted ways with Shane heading towards the gym. Cheer practice should be just finishing so maybe they can talk or get wasted before the party starts, either one at this point.

The library was quiet. Many of the students have already gone home except one. Haley surveyed the work on the desk in front of her. Two papers, three homework assignments all completed. Next, came the fun part. Research. The police, especially Adam, have given up on finding the actual killer, choosing to focus on the school's golden boy. It was so frustrating that no one would consider an alternate possibility. The similarities to the kidnappings twenty years prior have to have some sort of connection.

A shrill ring rang out throughout the library. Haley couldn't help, but jumped at hearing it. It could only be them. The killer made a habit of calling her at school, claiming the way it terrified her excited them. It was so perturbing yet she had to play by their rules or something could happen to Hannah. They might not have been close beforehand, but Haley would rather die than let her sister die. She took a deep breathe before answering, eyeing the librarian who was sleeping on the job like usual.

An automotive voice spoke causing chills up her spine, "Did you miss me?"
"You can't miss someone you don't know." The killer responded well to attitude, saying it was their favorite thing about her: how unafraid she is.
"I'd love to show myself to you, but I know you'd turn on me. I can't have that." They always toyed with her like this, the hopeless they would cause in her making waves. "Sadly, this was just a check-in call. I have plans my dear. Have a good night and I'll be thinking of you."They hung up before Haley could get a word in.

She knew what they were referencing. Jasmine Reyes was putting on a party tonight. It was the talk of the school and no one seemed to care that Evan disappeared at the same event. Haley couldn't help those dumb enough to risk their safety for some cheap thrills nor was she the type to go to a party. However, it would be easy grab another teenager while they were inhibited at a party. Haley was going for that reason alone. The killer would make an unknown appearance and Haley wanted to catch them in the act. Was it crazy? Absolutely, but it was her one chance.

She packed up her supplies, seeking out one of her few friends. 'Adrien should be in his office' she thought as she went in that direction. He was one of the few who shared her interest in the case, for another reason in his case but she'll take it. Haley walked into the room, not even noticing Adrien wasn't alone. Spencer, she thinks, just had to be there. She crossed her arms, leaning against the wall. "Adrien, I've got to talk to you when you're done." Now, she waits.
