Ghosts used to be just legends and stories until the first one showed up. Nowadays in London, the economy runs on the hunting of them. Its become a business and sport now, filled with the thrill of danger.

ImageImageImageGhosts ; an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or become manifest to the living, typically as a nebulous image. That's what they are. They can be humans. They can be animals. They can be invisible. They can have bodies. Either way though, they used to be thought of as fake, legends, myths, something that people tell each other to scare at slumber parties. Nothing more. But they were wrong when the first ghost was discovered in London England, 1993.

She was an apparition of a dead young girl who was hit by a bus. No one left her flowers, not even her family. Anger, sadness, confusion, and madness is what drives a pitied soul to become a ghost. So then a year afterwards, various and random deaths began to happen on the bus that came at 8:15 PM; heart attacks, strokes, suffocation, and sometimes a shooting. Other times the bus driver would suddenly crash the bus or take it off the road. Either way, deaths happened over and over again until eventually, someone stepped up. No... not someone. An agency.

Ghost hunters, doesn't it sound stupid? That's why they call themselves hunters. The very first agency was called Keylock, and they were made up of young adults, all who were only 19 years old. Daringly, they got onto the bus, and used their knowledge of ghosts from past legends, bringing with them a handful of salt and an iron weapon, the two elements that would harm and keep a ghost away. The bus came at the exact right time, and all six of them stepped aboard.

That was when that battle began; the girl showed up and attempted to reach out to touch them. All stepped backwards but one who couldn't, and that single person was touched. Her arm turned completely blue, swelled, and there was little to no energy left in her. This is what is now called Ghost Touched. Salt was thrown, and the girl shrieked. Someone else stabbed the iron pole forwards, through her stomach, and that was the end of it- Or that's what they thought. What is now called the Source, is what Keylock had to find. The Source is what hunters must find and either burn or seal in iron to get rid of the ghost, its what keeps them going, something that still keeps them alive. It was nearly a whole hour on that moving bus in the middle of no where until one of those young adults found a necklace and broke it with their iron. That's when it ended. That was when the first ghost ended. There were more ever since, and ghosts were no longer just legends and stories. They were daily things seen walking the roads at night and terrorizing, even killing people when they could. Thats how the business of agencies started.

ImageImageImageAgencies ; a business or organization established to provide a particular service, typically one that involves organizing transactions between two other parties. Well, that's what they were usually known as. Now days, agencies provide hunting service to get rid of any major ghosts. Its a new business. People now pay favored agencies money to get rid of and exorcise ghosts troubling them that can range from tapping noises in the night to actual murders.

But at first, especially after only the first ghost, people were skeptical about agencies when they began to form, because all of them were made of up children from 12 - 20 years of age. This was because children had better Sight (the ability to clearly see a ghost), better Hearing (the ability to hear the past of the ghost), and better Touch (the ability to than adults. The reason to why children were more fit for the job and had these abilities is one of those unknown mysteries, but it people wanted to cure themselves of the creatures seeking refuge in their houses, they had to rely on these young ones.

Its a dangerous work, getting rid of ghosts. It was discovered after the first ghost, that the one 19-year-old who got touched died the next day from the exposure. Ghost Touch became a deadly thing, the only thing that was dangerous about hunting. Hunters took extra precaution at first, bringing all the salt they had in their houses and bringing anything metal from forks and spoons to actual weapons. Over time, the society of London finally accepted the fact that it was no longer the living killing the living, and other companies were made to create iron weapons, magnesium flares, large bags of salt, anything needed to keep ghosts away and out of the houses.

Agencies would buy these things from those companies and hand them out to their members, which could be quite a big deal of work because of how many people there were per Agency. Most Agencies had a size from 10-30 people, that was the average number. The larger Agencies grew to be 60 and more, like Keylock and Windchest. No one paid for the items and weapons of the Agencies except the leader, who had to be rich to pay for so many people. That's why the smaller Agencies, with under 10 people, hardly survived a year in the harsh business. Except for one that had started two years back that went by the name Clocklock.

Clocklock ; A new Agency that just started business two years ago in 2003. They're one of the very smallest, but also one that's known for its work. With only six people, Clocklock has been able to take care of any ghost, and has not lost a single member in those two years. They fund for themselves, and they're all very young. Now the question is, how did children like this somehow manage to survive on their own? They have no family besides themselves, and they're all far too young to be brought into such a cruel work. The answer to this is because each of them are incredibly special.

Over 10 Agencies have tired to hire each one of them, but they all turned the offers down for a reason of their own. It was only when they saw the name Clocklock, named after the famous Keylock Agency, that they offered their body to the hunt. All of them had sharper senses than other children, in Sight, Hearing, and Touch, and some even had other oddities that weren't even related to ghosts, like photographic memory. Because of these talents, they were hired without second thought, and now, six months into their hunting, they begin hunt after hunt again. But there's a problem; their funds are growing short, and there are high chances they will disband if they don't get a good enough case. Unfortunately, all the good cases were the ones most dangerous.

✂ Ghosts range from Class One to Class Four. Class Ones and Twos are usually ones that do not do harm to people, only breaking vases or making noises, etc. Class Threes are dangerous, and can be deadly, while Class Fours are unheard of, thought of to be the legendary ghosts that can't even be killed because of how strong they are. However, as far as we know, there are really only Class Ones, Twos, and Threes.

✂ Speech with ghosts has only happened a few times before, but only with members from the original Keylock back in 1993. So far, no one has been able to communicate with them, and those who try usually end up Ghost Touched or dead, and, on rare occasions, lucky.

✂ Currently, it is 2005, London, and the end of fall season, approaching winter.

✂ Rapiers are now the weapons used to fight off ghosts. Most people tend to use rapiers, but others tend not to. A lot of hunters also tend to have another weapon on them besides a Rapier just incase they lose it.

✂ Salt and iron serve as good things to slow down ghosts or as a barrier.

✂ Barriers are made by circles of salt. The smaller the circle, the stronger the barrier.

✂ Ghosts are mostly active at night and cannot be seen unless at night.

✂ To get rid of a ghost, one must find the source, which is usually their bones or a precious object of theirs and seal them in an iron casing or burn them (if possible) or break them.

The Leader
A prideful young man who takes pride in his Agency and it incredibly polite. He always keeps his composure in place, but sometimes he may smart-mouth people. His talents lie in Sight, Touch, and researching, but fails in the Hearing subject. He has motives, but no one really knows as he is secretive person.

This young man used to be childhood friends with the leader, and upon him making Clocklock, he was convinced to be co-leader. He's quite a strict and controlling person and, unfortunately, he's terrible with research. Luckily though, he makes up for that with all the three psychic abilities since he really is, the best.

A girl who is very apathetic, mellow, and very aloof. She's incredibly quiet and always seems to be on the verge of sleep, only coming alive when there is an interesting hunt. She's weak in Sight, Touch, and research, but very skilled in fighting and Hearing. However, behind her emotionless face lies hidden thoughts she won't reveal.

He's a foreigner who came to London a while back, so he's not quite the same as the others. There are thoughts that he, in the first time in years, may be able to communicate with ghosts.

Unlike the others, this girl is the comedy-relief of the group, always goofing off and playing her childish games. It seems as though she doesn't have a bad past and her family is the only one that's alive compared to the other members. Well... at least, that's what she's been saying. There's appears to be more to her past than she lets on.

Quite contradicting to the essence of the first few members, this young man is very easy going and tends not to get too hyper, nor too angry or upset. He's very laid-back and casual, with everything and everyone, hardly getting scared or backing off, sometimes coming off as brave. Although, something sometimes seems off about him.

This young man may actually be the oldest, or one of the oldest in the group, but despite this, he's incredibly shy, quite, and self conscious. Not to mention, he's not a very good fighter, even though he wants to be, so he's a bit weak, but his strength in Touch and research is phenomenal. This is because whenever he sees something, he can't forget.

✄ 1. Reservation - To reserve, please find the rule hidden somewhere here. Afterwards, you have 48 hours to get up a wip, and then 4 days to finish it unless you talk to me explaining why you can't. Btw, not first come first serve. Battle for those roles! (E-Especially since I took two and there's only four left...) If there is no role you'd like, I may make one or two more exceptions. Maybe.

✄ 3. Literacy - Please, oh please be literate. Its fine if this isn't your first language, but make an attempt to look over your words. If you need help, you can always call on me. Right, and at least 400 words a post. Not that I'll be checking maybe, but make it an acceptable long post.

✄ 4. Gore and Romance - 'Course this is all appreciated, and wanted, and loved, but lets not go into '30 Shades of Grey' or 'Elfen Lied' bloody and romance, yeah?

✄ 5. Story and Theme - Please relate to this theme and story! It'd be great if your characters looked as if they were of the era, and if your bio ties in with the plot, I swear. I will love you forever. Please accept my love.

✄ 6. Other - ARGG, DAT CODING. Yeah, now I'm becoming illiterate on this last rule, as always, because its not really even a rule! Anyways, this is all based off the wonderful Lockwood and Co. book by Jonathan Stroud, incase anyone knows it which no one does. Ehhhh... passwords is... heh, lets make this confusing. Your favorite animal, then favorite food, and then 'island' in italicized. Heck yeah. Just kidding. I mean, you could do that, but you could just put your favorite chess piece to make it easy.
