Description
Maxwell Vance is a 13 year old boy who grew up in Austin Texas. However, he is far from typical. Not what you are probably thinking though. He has brown hair and red eyes, is almost average height for his age, fair skinned, and usually wears jeans, sneakers, and a T shirt. Also has a jacket if it gets cold, but it rarely does in Texas. Of course, he isn't in Texas anymore.
Maxwell Vance was raised by Eliot and Emily Vance, and was their only son. For most of his life, he lived a good healthy long one. Had a lot of friends, played some sports, got into the occasional bit of harmless trouble. It was fairly simply...until he learned something horrible. His parents were smuggling drugs, and his father was a hit man for an American based drug smuggling and distribution organization. His father was also a "Mechanic" who "fixed problems".
Faced with this information, but unable to kill their own child or get him to be obedient...or compliant...they sent him off to this hellhole. To make sure he wouldn't be able to incriminate them, and maybe even become more obedient. They told them he had issues with authority, pathological lying, excessive paranoia, trust issues, general disobedient behavior, and a list of other things that focus around not doing what he is told.
His parents just want him to not turn them in (because he doesn't share their morals), but they still love him. Up until this point they were good parents. Buuuut.....they don't want to go to jail. So they sent him there. Now granted, they don't know what they really do there, so they still are not THAT bad of parents. Overall, they treated him well, loved him, refused to kill their only son to cover up their crimes. They just don't want to go to jail. Max knows all of this, but he is still going to have words with his father when he gets out none the less.
He has taken Karate for the past six years. Being a child of the 21st century, he has extensive knowledge of computers and programming (though admittedly not as much as his best friend, and is unable (and has never tried) to hack a government site. He often finds doing one thing irritating, and has been known to multitask between several different projects, games, and such. He also has a real fondness for strategy games, making plans and strategies that range from simple and smart to elaborate and wicked. On the topic of abortion (just to show how deep I go into Character development), he is against it unless the pregnancy was caused by rape. He has the personal belief politicians are stupid and do as little as humanly possible.
He is both an optimist and a realist. He hopes for the best, but expects the worst. Although he didn't expect what he learned about his parents. That shocked him. However, despite what he thinks of his parents, he thinks Northstar is worse. His dad might be a hit man, but he is still his dad. And he knows what they do here is illegal. And he knows his dad would not allow this if he learned. His dad might be a "fixer", but Max knows he has a moral line because he is still alive. And Max knows he wouldn't stand for his son, or likely any child, to be subjected to what they do here. He also knows the FBI was looking into his family (the FBI is part of the reason he learned about what his family does), and likely wants to speak to him but is getting stonewalled by Northstar.
And Max. Well, Max doesn't intend to stick around long. He doesn't know how he will get out, but he will find a way. And then, he will reveal to everyone what this place really does.
