(Dark) Captain America

"I swear I had a name once..."

0 · 217 views · located in Alternate Marvel Universe

a character in “Dark Avengers: Lost Memories”, originally authored by WadeJackel, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Captain America has no superhuman powers, though he is a "perfect" specimen of human development and conditioning. Captain America's strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, durability, and healing are at the zenith of natural human potential.

He possesses metabolic functions which prevents the build-up of fatigue poisons in his muscles, giving him endurance far in excess of an ordinary human being. This accounts for many of his extraordinary feats, including bench pressing 1200 pounds and running a mile in 73 seconds (49 mph). Furthermore, his enhancements are the reason why he was able to survive being frozen in suspended animation for decades. He cannot become intoxicated by alcohol, drugs, or impurities in the air and is immune to terrestrial diseases. He is also highly resistant to hypnosis or gases that could limit his focus.

His battle experience and training make him an expert tactician and an excellent field commander, with his teammates frequently deferring to his orders in battle. Thor so highly regards Captain America's courage, leadership, and combat abilities that he has stated that Captain America is one of the very few humans he will take orders from and follow anywhere. His reflexes and senses are also extraordinarily keen. He has blended judo, western boxing, kickboxing, and gymnastics into his own unique fighting style and is a master of multiple martial arts. Years of practice with his indestructible shield make him able to aim and throw it with almost unerring accuracy. His skill with his shield is such that he can attack multiple targets in succession with a single throw or even cause a boomerang-like return from a throw to attack an enemy from behind. He is regarded by other skilled fighters as one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the Marvel Universe.

Although he lacks superhuman strength, Captain America is one of the few mortal beings who has been deemed worthy enough to wield Thor's hammer.

Captain America's uniform is made of a fire-retardant material, and he wears a lightweight, bulletproof "duralumin" scale armor beneath his uniform for added protection. Originally, his mask was a separate piece of material, but an early engagement had it dislodged, thus almost exposing his identity. To prevent a recurrence of the situation he modified the mask with connecting material to his uniform, an added benefit of which was extending his armor to cover his previously exposed neck.

So begins...

Consciousness. That's all he was aware of. He was awake. Moments later, he became aware of an instinctive function being performed: breathing. He felt blood pump through his body. Gradually, his senses came to life. He could hear voices, but they were somewhat muted, as though he weren't allowing himself to decipher their speech. He felt a chill under his hands, and fabrics covering his legs and torso. Boots clad his feet, he could tell. Heavy, too. His sight was the last to come alive. It took him a bit to realize that he could function his eyelids. His eyes opened.

It was a tad difficult to see at first, what with the dreary surroundings. Seconds later, his eyes were fully adjusted to the darkness, and he saw that he was in a small, dank confinement, in which it was rather dark. His eyes began to adjust further, feed his brain more details about his surroundings. He found he was able to move himself about, though he tested the ability sparingly. Upon looking down, he saw he was clad in a tight t-shirt, green-ish pants with a leather belt, and, as he'd suspected, black boots. There was a word for this outfit, he knew... But what? He couldn't remember. As he stood up on somewhat shaky legs, leaning against the wall for support, he knew there was a word for him. A... name.

A name. He furrowed his brows in heavy contemplation. What was his? He had a deep, gut feeling it began with the letter... "S"? S... S- what? S-something. Close enough. He strode forward and looked out of his confinement. He could make out shapes, and the voices finally cleared up more. He didn't pay attention to what they were saying, just forming the question and asking it.

"H... Wh... What is this place?"

"So many interesting things to play with and all the time in the universe at my disposal." The Dark Entity thought it the perfect time to begin the games, in the first set of games he would pluck three inmates from their cells and place them in an arena.

He would restore to one of them their power, but not their memory, nor the knowledge of how to utilize what they have been gifted. The others he would keep in their current state of confusion.

At that moment three Superheros were pulled from their cells to reappear in the center of partially destroyed arena. Captain America, Spider-woman and Venom now stand within the marble ruins. Parker finds herself near a rack, holding an assortment of brutish looking weapons.

Brock is left without any means of defense, while Captain America has had his belongings returned to him-Minus the knowledge of their significance.

As the three warriors stood within the ancient arena Clark and Kassidy were transported from their cells to reappear at opposite ends of a small Ghost town somewhere in the Midwest United States.

More weapons were provided for this second set of test subjects-Strewn and hidden all around the town for each to discover and utilize. Those inmates still within their cells were provided with familiar surroundings to see how they might react to suddenly-Seemingly-Being freed from their chambers.

The Hulk remained in his cramped cell.

Suddenly, Venom felt his a harsh pain clamp down in his head, transforming him into a Human inexplicably and randomnly. His huge bulk melted away, all the black goo flowing back INSIDE Brock. He watched himself in the shiny metallic surface as he transformed into a normal human, clad in his normal clothes. A screech resounded through his head, a scream of what could only be Venom, obviously unhappy at the random and confusing transformation. When the screaming stopped, Brock looked at his reflection.

"What the hell happened?" he asked himself. "Was that Venom.....or me?".

However, it seemed Brock was not going to be given time to recover, or time to understand what had happened to him, and was blinded by a blue flash of intense, ocean-coloured light, throwing him into a swirling abyss, before the blue and black swirling dissipated to reveal the ruins of what Brock could only describe as a destroyed arena, with strange pictures on the walls around him, and collapsed marble pillars all over the place. Brock decided the place reminded him of a mixture of a Colloseum and a temple, and it looked Greek, or Roman. He was awed, ready to explore the new place. And then he heard two sounds.

One heartbeat, belonging to an extremely strong human male. And, he recognised the heartbeat of Parker. Suddenly, Brock was confused on what to do. Did he seek out the other amnesiacs, or did he he run away. Choosing the latter, Brock charged into the ruins, hoping to escape Parker and the male, and maybe even discovering what the hell was going on.

Brock charged through the ruins, absolutely terrified he might transform again. Already Venom was shouting at him, pleading him to allow the creature to take control, and Brock could feel his mental barriers being battered down, the slow acceptance of the creatures control.

He ran into a dead end, panting and unsure what to do next. He stared at the wall, thinking of a way out of this situation, of a way to escape this place. He closed his eyes, thinking about what to do next, panicking at the thought of transforming and potentially killing Parker.

"Surely we could just jump over the wall" Venom called into his mind. Brock, confused, but too tired to resist or argue with the voice in his head, prepared for a jump, taking a long running start. He charged towards the wall, running faster than he ever thought he could, desperately hoping he could vault this wall. He leaped, going higher, towards the wall....

....and over it, reaching an impossible height, but before he knew it he was flying down again. Brock, unprepared for a landing, flew across the floor, landing at the feet of a strangely dressed man with a shield and a five pointed star on his chest, the man obviously perplexed at the appearance of Brock.

He stared at the man in horror, realising this one of the people he was running away from.

"Who are you!? What do you want with me!?" Brock roared at the Star-Man, confused, scared, tired and worried that his life might be about to end.....or that Venom may take control again....

He looked at the figure that had happened to fall before him. He tilted his head to one side in curiosity. How strange. He hadn't been expecting that. Upon the person speaking, he wondered what was so frightening about him. He furrowed his brows and replied, "What?" He was surprised that his voice was working correctly. "I want nothing from anyone... except to know where I am."

Brock stared up at the Star-Man in confusion, before accepting he wasnt a bad guy, nodding, reassuring himself that everything was ok. He looked at him, and couldnt help grinning sheepishly.

"Sorry, I'm not h-having a g-good day. I cant remember anything s-save m-my name. Brock Anderson, sir. Pleased to meet you."

Brock got up, unsure of his environment, and this perfect specimen of a man, knowing he could transform at any moment.

"Seems we are both lookin' for the same thing, Star." Brock said, dubbing the costumed man. "What do you say we explore this place together? Find out where the hell we are?" Brock asked, hoping he had found an ally in this shielded individual.

He extended his hand towards the masked man, waiting for a response...

He hesitated before reaching out and firmly shaking the other's hand. After the shake, he nodded. "That'd be great... And you should count yourself rather lucky, Brock Anderson; I can't even remember my name!" With a stressed laugh, he furrowed his brows again. "It started with an "S", though. I'm pretty sure of that." He looked back to the other. "So I guess you can call me... eh, whatever you fancy. I don't mind."

Parker was still holding the spiked ball and chain when she was suddenly transported to the same location and presented before the awestruck and unlikely pairing that was Captain America and Brock Anderson-They were now a trio of unwitting pawns.

The Dark Entity forced Parker's hand and she swung the heavy brutal weapon with the full force of her forcibly concealed spider-power.

An involuntary swing was made after Parker was struck forward towards Brock and another male.

"What the fuck?!" She cries out as the spiked ball makes contact with the man with the shield.

Awestruck, she stood there, her hair falling in her face as she pants a bit, stumbling back from shock. Her blue eyes were wide with fear, and it suddenly filters into rage.

She recognized that pull, that certain energy force that had pushed her towards the two males.

"Damn you!" She growls whipping around, looking for the voice she had heard earlier, gripping the spiked ball and chain, "Why don't you come out and face me like a man?" She spits, her words are like acid as she yells towards the dark, grey sky.

These beings were a constant source of entertainment for the Dark Entity, Superman was particuarly amusing, his ignorant assumption that the sunlight which was now beating down upon him was actually somehow beneficial.

It obviously had not dawned on him that the sun was not restoring his power-It was the influence of his captor. The Dark being felt it the right time to reveal some portion of himself-Though shadowed and distorted-Not wanting the reality of his true visage to restore the memories which he had stolen.

Superman was standing just outside a small ruined building with his face cast to the sunlit sky, as he tried to soak up the radiation from the burning yellow ball above him-Artificiality be damned.

Captain America, Brock and Parker stopped their in-fighting to witness the tremendous display of their captors form.

Stephen Strange was astonished by the sudden and unexpected disappearance of the building in which he stood, particularly since the shelves, furniture and books all remained within the now invisible inner walls of the structure.

The reveal had blotted out the artificial sun from the artificially created realms in which each had been cast. The massive form, which reached mind-boggling heights, now loomed over their realms.
