"My wrath has only just begun."
Name: Akari Matsumoto
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Physical Description: Akari stands only 5'5". However, with her hood she appears a few inches taller. She has a few distinguishing features, namely her pointed ears and lavender hair and eyes. These remain largely covered, however, by the hooded purple and green cloak she is rarely without.
Equipment: Other than her magic, Akari only has one piece of equipment.. a staff

http://www.papercraftsquare.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Caster-Rule-Breaker-Papercraft.jpg The purpose and origins of the staff remain to be seen, though it is clear that Genji has more than the Princess' safety in mind. Akari keeps the dagger hidden away in the folds of her robes, and she can summon the staff at her discretion.
Strengths: Akari is adept at both light and dark magic, though the further she falls into darkness, the harder it is to use the light. She also uses her skills of manipulation to get her way and bend people to her will. Akari also focuses her rage into whatever she is trying to accomplish, and doesn't allow many people close to her.
Weaknesses: While she is fair at defending herself in close range combat, it is not a strong point. Due to the madness and dark magic use, her emotions can spell trouble for her when she doesn't keep them in check. Easily angered when she doesn't get her way, this can be an advantage... until she over reacts. Using dark magic for years has made her powerful, but she is also becoming power-hungry and losing her sanity. Akari also trusts very few people. The High Priest, Genji.
Personality: Akari Matsumoto is very much two-sided, just as her appearance. On the one hand, she is a beautiful girl who appears to be compassionate and caring. Someone you would be proud to call your princess. To those who are loyal to her, she is gracious in her rewards and her punishments are just.
Underneath the surface, however, lurks the darkness that has grown within. Her spiral into madness shows through, especially in her anger as she is prone to react in a manner not befitting the offense. Her sense of humor is just as dark as her appearance, and she can't understand pleasant emotions anymore. Her decisions and personality have been, and still are, heavily influenced by the High Priest Genji, who molded her from the once loving child, to the twisted witch she is now. Akari believes everything she does is for the right reasons, and that ending the war is top priority.
Likes: music - she enjoyed this before and after her decent into madness, and finds it calming. Making other people feel her pain. Dark magic (though she secretly still attempts to use light magic at times). Strength.
Dislikes: love, men, war, and not getting her way.
History: Akari is the only child of Finarin's rulers, thereby making her the princess of Finarin, and heir to the throne. She had a very happy childhood, learning about the ways of light magic from her mother, to whom she was nearly identical. At the age of ten, Akari's mother fell ill and passed away just before her eleventh birthday. Heartbroken, the king started to seclude himself to his chambers, unable to look upon his daughter who so reminded him of his love. Akari was left to the care of Genji, the high priest of the kindom, who was a dark, twisted man on the conquest for power. Unbeknownst to the young princess, Genji would relay false orders to her, manipulating her into believing the king had ordered the atrocities. Years went by with Genji over her shoulder, whispering evils into her ear. When she turned 16, Genji decided to school her in the art of dark magic, much to Akari's surprise. Curious and naïve, Akari agreed to learn willingly.. and thus began her descent into darkness.
At the age of 18 Akari met a young man, Izo, who began to court her and after a year, stole her heart. Akari was deeply in love with him and intended to marry him though it meant he would be Emperor. Genji couldn't stand the thought, not only because of the time he had spent grooming her, but because he had developed an obsession with her. She looked very much like her mother after all, and Genji had been secretly in love with the Empress. In his jealousy, Genji cast a spell on Izo which led him to believe he was in bed with Akari, but it was actually a concubine sent by Genji. Making an excuse to get Akari to stop by her room, he waited outside as she went in. Akari entered the room to the sight of her beloved Izo with another woman. Unable to control her sadness and anger at the situation, Akari stabbed the woman on the spot. Izo suffered a worse fate however... With the darkness that had been creeping into her mind over the years along with the rage at his betrayal, Akari could not control herself and cast a spell which shred Izo to pieces. Realizing what she had done, Akari fell to her knees as if to ask forgiveness, but Genji was there in an instant to console her. He reassured her that she had done the right thing, using this as another string in his web of lies.
Now 20, Akari's father has fallen ill with the same sickness as that of her mother, leaving much of Finarin Empire in her hands... unaware of the corruption that has surrounded her these many years.
If the broken princess is consumed by the darkness.. the Empire will fall..
